I didn't overvolt MY card at first as I was trying to find out how high it could go on Stock Volatge. Only when I saw I couldn't break 1000MHZ Core and Stock Memory I started to see my card was having problems.

Hi, I think we have a similar problem. I bought the VX7950 3GBDE5-2DHXV2 VTX3D of last week. I have the same crash. I've been watching the crashes occur only with Directx 9 They are reproduced:
Heaven Bench 3.0 benchmark at 245 seconds always crash
Serious Sam 3 crash
The 7950, according to the name (VX7950 3GBDE5-2DHXV2) there is a new revision, I think they have added another VRAM to save costs by.
I think the problem is the VRAM of the card.
When I sit down at the memory clock to 1220 in directx 9 it is no longer crash.
Otherwise I run the 7950 can clocked at stock core voltage (1031mV) to 1080MHz core clock.
But the memory clock at stock and directx 9 at 1220 MHz.
So if I increase the memory clock, there is the GSOD (Blue Screen Of Death).
Did your hd 7950 a 6pin and 8pin power supply?
regards

I do indeed, exact card, exact same faults/crashes. Sadly my card is already getting RMA tested so I am unable to try your clock speeds

Good news! Although Scan say the card has no fault I am being refunded Hopefully now if I buy a better brand and learn from my mistakes I will have no issues.
Looking at this: http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/c...96-10-40g.html
What do you think?

That is a really nice card Sapphire is one of if not the best AMD partner so good luck but have you explored the 660ti or 670 only a few pounds more for the 670 and the performance is better than a 7970 reference and on par or slightly ahead of the Ghtz edition (with the exception of metro2033 and Crysis).
NVM just realized the 670's are priced about 50 euros more than the 7950's if your on a budget get the sapphire.
Prices are a bit different in the states its only about a 35 euro difference here with my quick conversion.

Yeah UK prices are stupid. £260+ for a 660 Ti! What a joke. The decent 670s only start to show at £300+ and thats out of my range

Couldn't be happier! Got the MSI Twin Frozr III which came on the 7970 PCB! Clocked at 1100/1650 at 1093mv. Temps are around 70 and fan sits around 55%. All for a lovely £270. Glad I got this over the 660 Ti, those cards are mega overpriced here in the UK
