I would suggest something along the lines of SkullCandy if you are traveling a lot. Other than that i would suggest a good headset like Sennheiser-HD555

For a tablet you really could use those high quality Sennheisers to full potential without a sound card or anything though really?

from my experience with my nexus 7, the internal DAC isnt really that great. its worse than the DAC on my galaxy note, which is pretty bad.
so i'd probably recommend something like a fiio portable amp to fix the audio quality before spending big money on earphones/headphones. or alternatively, go for something like a creative x fi headset, where the headset can clean up the audio for you.

I'd stick with earbuds, do you need noise isolation? Are you a basshead?

Since the Nexus 7 uses a Realtek chip (so does the Transformer Pad Prime), you wouldn't really get superior audio no matter what headset you eventually buy.
Just go for a basic Panasonic earphones for $30 and you're good to go.
ASUS used to put Wolfson chips in, now those were good chips but most tablets don't have these chips in them anymore. Usually they're found in phones like the Nexus S or the Samsung Galaxy S III.

Something like Sennheiser MX 580 or 880 will probably do the trick (or around that price range). I have Sennheiser MX 760 and it does pretty good job for the price.

Thanks guys, so I didn't want to make another thread about this so I am going to ask here. I got the Adobe Flash 11.11 or whatever newest APK for my Nexus 7. The flash works fine on Firefox Beta and everything but I am trying to stream movies off of Movie2k.to and the video works fine but the audio isn't there? One more question can anyone recommend a good screen protector and/or case for my new Nexus 7?

You could try Opera Mobile, it has flash plugin support too. And when it comes to case, get the official one from play store (Nexus 7 Cover, hands on).

Yeah, from Google store. Since the flash player is not really supported on JB, problems are rather likely.

I got myself a Denon AH-C260 to go with my Nexus 7. So far so good and if you don't want to go for something premium, I think this earphone is a good choice. I got it from a store here in Malaysia that is similar to Amazon for little more than $30 (after conversion).
My Nexus 7 tablet is used for reading most of the time. Lesser for videos and music though.
