Ah a slightly newer 8.982 driver (The earlier one was originally for mobile GPU's wasn't it?) interesting.

EDIT: I think I'll await the 12.8 WHQL myself, these are probably OK, maybe comparable to Nvidia's dev drivers I guess.
(Which usually means they work just fine once modded, most of the time.)

You linked the one for the 32 bit.

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...win7-64.aspx#2

nvm, seems they are identical, the 32 and 64 bit. 64 bit included.

On Catalyst Pro tab there also a 8.982.2 driver dated August 7 as well, but my internet does not allow me to check exact driver build date.

I think I'll pass on trying these with desktop cards. I remember bad experiences in the past trying to use pro drivers.

OpenCL drivers are slightly newer (same version number, but appear to be a slightly later build).

HDMI driver is update from build 7707-->7708
(I assume the old version is 7707?)

Would it provide a bit better wireframe performance? Is there any modern driver that can be used for that? The whole artificially crippling wireframe performance by an order of magnitude is extremely annoying. There has to be better ways for them to sell professional cards than that.

I've never used a FirePro or Quadro driver that lead to any more than <1% performance loss in games. However some did help by a chunk in wireframe.

I used these new files with the 19 July installer (and installed manually), and yes, the new files are being used! I'm also using the newer CCC2 and the apps that are later builds (same version, different build).

I have to say, so far it seems to be running great! I haven't tried any heavy benchmarking in games.

The reason why I tried these is the other driver was playing up every couple of days (computer on 24/7), these have been running flawlessly so far.

You would expect them to be 'more stable'...

I'd like to see a modded package from these. Firegl or quadro drivers were always stable and fps loss minimal if any.

I find them to be really good

Use from this pack:
CCC2
OpenCL
HDMI audio drivers
Display drivers (modded)

Use from 19 July Pack:
Remaining apps

I can safely say that these are definitely better than the 19 July drivers.

So how does that work... install everything from July 19, then just put a check next to the CCC, OpenCL, HDMI and Display Drivers?

If there's a info on how to tweak the installer, I'm happy to do it myself

I don't know why you want this driver so much... Its only 2 days newer than 8.982.0 and most 3D components are smaller so less stuff inside.
Only OGL is newer and thats because they are GL pro cards, nothing new in CCC or other apps.

Anyway here is the modded version, install everything via setup.exe the driver should fail to install, so install it via device manager.
Also added Win8 support but before install you must disable the driver signature check.

I haven't tested this driver.

I understand that leave the Catalyst 12.x on Monday August 13.
Thanks anyway for the driver.

Here's what I did from Win8 Enterprise x64:

- Disabled Driver Signature Enforcement
- Installed Display Driver, OpenCL, HDMI, and Catalyst
- Rebooted
- Display Driver didn't start due to it being unsigned
- Rebooted again and disabled signature enforcement
- Catalyst doesn't detect the display adapter

Thats probably because this CCC isn't compatible with win 8, you should try install CCC only from the 9.00 driver package.
For driver signature you must disable it everytime you boot, or enable test mode for a permanent solution.

I couldn't make them work on my 5k series. The driver had a ! Mark. Ran them in test mode obviously, installed manually via device man etc.
Didn't bother to report since 12.8 is on the corner.

I had issues with freezes with the 19 July drivers (that required you to press the reset button), but these have been flawless for me. Just be careful with installation, it has to be done manually. I'm not sure whether Windows will accept the driver on a normal installation, I have the 'testsigning' fuction turned on for something else which gets around driver signing.

This one look to specially here for the Firepro new line up.. ( W9000-8000 etc ).

No 3D gaming aimed performance, and they are surely only there for test purpose for CAD / pro developpers, etc for the new Firepro's.

The release note indicate they support all, include Linux but not win8

http://www2.ati.com/drivers/firepro/...ion8.982.2.pdf

Dont bother use this driver, if you dont have a FirePro version..

Well I just installed this... and it doesn't work, at all. I should have read Asder's post...

How do I install this through the device manager? I see the W86A_INF is the 64 bit folder package (I think, it points to syswow64), but which inf from those ones?

Well I tried the first inf which I believe is for the 6900 (according to other threads) and it didn't work, it's still as if no driver was installed.

Any instructions, anyone?
