Hey guys, I kinda need help with something.

Randomly, my screen will freeze and become non-responsive and then a loud buzzing sound will emit from my speakers.

This usually happens when I'm playing DotA 2.

Here's the error:

Can anyone help me please?

Corsair 850W. Can't remember specifically which one, but it's called something like Silent Master?

I know that "error" type and it's quite misleading. Your PC can be caught in an endless/infinte loop, and when you press the reset button on your case that is when the kernel power error code is "made" and NOT because of the freeze/infinite loop.

I had this error too with an older system I had, and the problem was a sound driver issue.

I'd try to update graphics, sound, motherboard and lan-drivers before even thinking of a power issue.

Perhaps it's Cooler Master - Silent Pro M 850W? The first thing I'd check if getting 'power' issues is the power supply. It'll probably be a good idea to confirm the power supply model.

You should also ensure you have the latest graphics card drivers.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Once that's done you will probably want to check your other drivers and hardware.

To check your drivers follow instructions here:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...e-disable.html

You'll also need 'bluescreenview' to diagnose any errors that show up while running windows driver verifier.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

Additionally, on the hardware side.

You'll want to run memtest to test your ram.
http://hcidesign.com/memtest/

Also 'stress test' with prime95 - Blend for at least 1-2 hours.
http://www.overclock.net/t/137251/prime95

This is assuming your system is not overclocked.

Ah, thank you BlackZero, it is the Cooler Master Silent Pro 850W.

I was having issues with the 12.6 drivers (atikmpag/atikmdag.sys BSODs) so I reverted to the 12.3. I will try the 12.7 beta driver and see how it goes.

As for memtest, I did that a couple of days ago, they all check out fine.

My system is not overclocked at all, but I will carry out what you said and see how it goes from here.

Also, if this helps...

I can't seem to watch a youtubevideo/watch a ********** on twitch.tv while playing Starcraft 2 and DotA 2.

When I try to run both, it just glitches out. Like for example, I was watching a Day9 daily via youtube and waiting for a DotA 2 game and suddenly my screen just turned black and never switched back. I could still hear the youtube video going on, but I couldn't do anything. Spamming Ctrl+Alt+Del didn't do anything, and I was forced to reset my PC.

Just attempted the verifier and this happened...

BSOD

Googled on my phone and it seemed to be related to daemontools.

So I followed what the verifer site said, booted into safe mode, uninstalled daemontools, disabled verifier and booted up. Was smooth.

Do I need to do it multiple times to check all the other drivers?

edit: image too big lol

Yes you'll need to keep the verifier configured until you have a clear run of 48 hours I believe it is.

Regarding YouTube, seems a lot of people are having black screen freezes while watching videos with the last few drivers so AMD should be working on a fix. Also, playing video games and watching YouTube can cause other issues due to uvd causing clocks to stay at lower levels.

I have got this error from faulty ram, unstable Xonar DG sound drivers and not enough cpu voltage. All times my computer reset itself without me hitting the reset/power button.

Hi guys, I'm back.

Well the PC has been fine so far, except that today while playing Darksiders 2, it keeps giving me this buzzing sound from my speaker, the screen freezes and even pressing the reset button on my PC doesn't work. I actually have to shut off the main power socket switch and restart my PC.

Any advice? It keeps saying Kernel Error in the Event Log.

I had the Kernal-Power 41 (63) critical error myself yesterday, I had done a fresh install of windows on a new ssd, so I had been installing all new drivers etc. I researched the error and found others had the same problem and it was down to audio drivers like someone mentioned at the top of this thread. It would also explain the strange buzzing from your speakers before the freeze you are experiencing.

Check in device manager whether you have more than one sound driver installed. Somehow I had NVIDIA sound drivers, Realtek HD audio drivers, and my SoundBlaster drivers install, and that was causing the crash. Once I uninstalled all but Soundblaster drivers, the error seems to have been solved, and I've not had a kernal-power error since. Let us know how it goes

Logitekkers,

I only have AMD High Definition Audio Device and High Definition Audio Device in my sound drivers...

I'm now playing DotA 2 and it hasn't frozen one single bit yet.

I don't any sound card installed FYI.

I'm really confused at the moment, this issue only occurs on Darksiders 2.

I was running 12.7 drivers for my graphics card, I thought that might be the issue and I uninstalled and went back to 12.6, same **** happens. 5 minutes into launching the game it just freezes, loud buzzing sound and I cannot press the reset button on my PC to reset, I have to turn off the main power and then turn it back on.

I'll be running Prime95 overnight for now, around 8 hours (depending on when I wake up). I seriously think this is a RAM issue, but Memtest showed up clean (testing each RAM one by one). Maybe I need to do a memtest with all 3 of them? What do you guys think?

Oh and I'm running Prime95 on Blend, in case anyone's wondering.

Currently my CPU temp is 72degrees Celsius. (CPU is an Intel Core i7 930 @ 2.80GHz, Bloomfield 45nm Technology).

Motherboard temperature is at 42 degrees.
Harddrives at 38 and 44 degrees
Graphic Card at 48 degrees

This temperatures are all idle, and do take note that I don't have air conditioning in my room. I myself am not sure if these temperatures are normal while running Prime95

If I'm not wrong, this processor is really really old yeah?

prime-95 blend is a good indicator of overall hardware reliability. Running memtest with all memory sticks present might help diagnose any memory controller issues. You could also trying increasing the vccio/vtt a single notch. Also ensure the memory is set to xmp.

If all hardware tests pass then it is more likely to be a software incompatibility issue, especially if the problem only persists in a single game.

Blackzero, What's vccio/vtt and how do I ensure my memory is set to XMP?

Also, could overheating of the GPU be causing the problem?

I attempted to start up darksiders 2 again, and when it hung, I immediately went to touch my GPU and it was really really hot.

Turned on Verifier just to make sure it wasn't a driver problem....

Ran into a new problem. Only happened once, now my PC is stable.

This is definitely a graphics card problem now, dont you think?

I'm sorry. I should have explained. To enable XMP (XMP stands for eXtreme Memory Profile) you would need to enter your motherboard's Bios by holding down the 'delete' or 'del' key when the system is booted.

XMP is further explained here.

It is possible. You could observe GPU temps in-game using MSI Afterburner OSD.

That could be a hardware or software issue. You first could try uninstalling the graphics card drivers fully and then installing the latest catalyst 12.8 WHQL.

I've tried all of the above, Darksiders 2 still crashes. I have been playing Battlefield 3 for about 2 hours, and GPU temperature only hit 80 degrees peak. No freezing, no crashing. Whatsoever.

Could just be some conflict with that particular game. Try reinstalling and also ensure your diectx is up to date.
