Default Voltage adjustments not working in MSI AB, and a suggestion. - 08-07-2012, 15:29 | posts: 11

For some reason adjusting volts in AB on my Gigabyte 7870 just don't stick.

But they do in the Sapphire TRIXX utility.

Other than that i have a suggestion, if i may?

The vDroop on this card is bad, because of that i have to set 1.27v to get stable 1200Mhz plus clocks, when the card is under load the volts just plummet to 1.2v.

so what about MSI AB with LLC? i don't know how hard or easy it would be to code that in but it would be good to have that as a slider that you can adjust to compensate for the vDroop which all cards have to some extent.

It also negates having to set extremely high volts to start with as an alternative to compensate, which can't be healthy.

Hello~
Thank you for your suggest.
We will be reference.

About 7870, can't control voltage?
If yes, maybe they use different PWMIC.

Thanks.

AB will adjust the volts, and they are confirmed in GPU-Z (but only when idle)

For example, stock volts are 1.2v, GPU-Z reads 1.195v idle and 1.188v load, if i set 1.26 in TRIXX GPU-Z reads 1.24V idle and 1.194v load and the overclock holds.

If i set 1.26v in AB at idle it will read 1.24v in GPU-Z, but once the card is under load GPU-Z reads 1.188v (the same as stock volts) and the overclock fails.

Also, and again, Load Line Calibration in AB would be awesome, and a first
