This is sad news for Radeon users.

How about no and say He didn't. Dude. you are forgetting that AMD OWNS the rights to those DLLs. AMD removed them for a reason so you cannot believe AMD is going to grant Unwinder permission to include them in Afterburner?

@Everyone: The link is probably down because dissemination (sharing) of copyrighted software is illegal without the express consent of the copyright holder. If you need those DLLs the only legal way to get them is to install Catalyst 12.1 or earlier. But keep in mind using them outside of the installation in which they came is also illegal. Sorry ppl, not my law. Will I use the above suggestion? Your darn toot'n I am.....

Anyhoot, Thank you Unwinder for a great piece of software. I only wish the Corp. big wigs would stop f'n with the OC community.

Peace.

Thanks to Unwinder for giving us an explanation for the problem!

AMD has removed two dll files in Catalyst 12.2 that still existed in version 12.1. Therefore if 12.2 happens to be the first driver you install on your new system you won't have those two dll files on your computer. This causes MSI Afterburner to fail to set the unofficial overclocking values.

To fix the problem you need to download the two dll files and place them in your MSI afterburner folder. You may need to REBOOT afterwards.

The files can be downloaded here:

http://andora.tk/ATIDrivers.zip
If you can't see a picture below the server is offline
What are the names of the two dll files needed?

atipdlxx.dll

Paste into the AB folder then add -xcl to the shortcut as below, then exit and reopen AB. It should ask for a reboot.

Just to note that since doing a fresh install I've had no luck with 12.6 or 12.7 on 2.2.0/2.2.1/2.2.2.

Same here. I've tried different versions of AB, edited the cfg files etc etc. Nothing works

This is what I did:
1. Installed 12.6 whql
2. Installed latest version of AB
3. downloaded the 2 missing files and copied them into AB folder
4. edited the CFG file
5. added -xcl to the shortcut and opened AB
6. restarted comp

still cant go over 1135 with using 7850...
and cant control the voltage

After ****ing around with this for the past 3 hours, I've gotten it to work on 12.8 with AB 2.2.0

1. Install AB
2. Copy DLL's to folder
3. Do the ****ing cfg ritual
4. Install 12.8
5. OC the **** out of card

I seriously am very pissed at the general BS loops I had to jump through to get the OCing BACK BEFORE I HAD TO REINSTALL WIN 7.

**** MSI AND **** AMD

I hope this helps someone, somewhere, sometime so they don't blow a capillary

Wouldn't work for me in afterburner 2.2.4 but works fine in 2.2.2
Just copied the dll files over, done the usual cfg edit and bam 1.3V on my 7970

Shame these things vdroop so hard though... runs like 1.27V when idle then droops right back down to 1.17V-1.2V under load.
Had it at 1350/1800Mhz for while. furmark run here
Unfortunately it wasn't fully stable still, furmark didn't crash and I done multiple runs and a few 15 minute burn in tests played a game for a couple of hours but then tried an older game and it froze up on me

Oh running catalyst 12.8 btw
But it does work!

Thanks mate! Appreciate your efforts... not everyone is a whinging b****

yes because it is the end of the world to have to change a 0 to a 1 and copy two .dlls into a folder.

i have this working on 2.2.4 and 3 lightnings with cat 12.8. 12.9 bea does seem to have bugged ab thou as 2d clocks cause screen corruption at desktop. But honestly in no rush to upgrade to 12.9.

Sorry for the broken link. I replaced it with the one posted by king-dubs.

I haven't been using the unofficial OC method for a while but I just tested it and it still works. Running core 1200, mem 1600 and vcore 1.18V.

Catalyst 12.8 and Afterbuner 2.2.2

Thanks so much! confirmed to work on 12.9 catalyst drivers with 2.2.4 version of AB. I just had to make sure to add UnofficialOverclockingMode=1 to the Profiles section config file.

On 12.11 doing this causes massive flickering and unstable graphics at any clocks. Its crazy. Anyone know if its working on 12.10 though? I been uninstalling drivers on and off all day to find where the problem lay with the idle buy on 12.10+ for amd gpu.
