Default Lock mouse to primary monitor? - 08-04-2012, 04:44 | posts: 94 | Location: Chesilhurst NJ

Does anyone know of a way to lock my mouse to my primary monitor?

I have tried several different software in an attempt to do this and every single one of them has failed to do it properly.

My problem is that when I lock the mouse with any program it is still allowed to travel to my 2nd monitor for a split second and thusly alt tabs me out of games CONSTANTLY!!

It's driving me crazy!

To top it off some of my friends who have multiple monitors say their games just lock the mouse into the window automatically, so it seems like this is only happening to me!

Programs I've tried.

MouseJail

ConfineMouse

Mouseclip - This one works the best, but still lets my mouse into the 2nd monitor when in the middle section of the screen.

MurGeeMon

DisplayFusion

UltraMon

Actual Multiple Monitors

Any help is appreciated guys! I am ready to slam my head through a brick wall at this point!

I used dual screen for years and never had that. You should probably try to work out why it happens rather then mask it with other software since it's not normal. What games does it happen in?

It's happened in every single game I've ever played.

Diablo 3 with it's confine cursor to primary monitor is the only game that has properly locked itself to my main screen. Literally every other game allows the cursor to just float on over to the 2nd monitor and alt-tabs me during gameplay.

I've tried switching my 2nd monitor to one with DVI instead of HDMI, and even used a stupid Serial cable and it does the same thing.

I've even reinstalled Win7 trying to fix it and I'm totally out of ideas.

I've never been this baffled by anything in my life!!

I finally found a program that does what it says it's supposed to!

I doubt I'll ever find out what caused my issue with nearly every single game, but this program does everything it's supposed to properly.

It took a long time to find it, but I feel so much relief now!

A. It locks the mouse without letting it skip over to the 2nd monitor. Cursor is locked on the edge as if I'm on a single monitor set up!

B. When the cursor is on the threshold between monitors it allows the cursor to travel vertically up-down along the edge without getting hung up for no apparent reason (MurGeeMon I'm looking at you.)

C. It's free! It's opensource! It's hosted on sourceforge! After buying a few programs that failed to deliver on their promises, this is like a dream come true.

The program is called Dual Monitor Tools. It was programmed by a guy named Gerald Evans and is completely open source.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/dualmonitortool/

The module that does the cursor lock is called SwapScreen and the option is contained in the hotkeys section. It supports Starting when Windows Starts up, and you can set whether the screen is locked or unlocked when Windows starts as well.

Thank you killer_939 for showing interest in my problem. I appreciate it!

Now to go do my victory dance!

:Edit: This prog even has a sticky cursor feature that does what the other programs claimed to be mouse lock.
