On my 1090t I started having problems with the men controller once I raised the memory controller frequency up 400-600 MHz beyond stock even at 1600mhz ram speed based on performance reviews I read. So in my case going back to my old ram worked for me but I don't play games on it. Going to get a bulldozer eventually and think the Op should consider that as an option.

ok so i just removed the cpu from the socket and the center of the metal on the top seems to have changed color to a copperish color. Does this mean its heat damaged? I never observed the cpu getting above 50C even under full load.

heres a picture: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xrl9mkoo1cqhyu6/IMAG0127.jpg

EDIT: i just read that my thermal compound (ic diamond) discolors cpus after prolonged use. so, am i going to have any problems rmaing the cpu if its discolored?

CPU should shut down if it overheats, but that doesn't look too healthy....

Why is there thermal paste all around the outside edge but none in the middle where that mark is?

Idk...that mark could have been left there by your thermal paste possibly?

What brand are you using?

Edit-

Im quoting someone about the thermal paste you're using "IC is hard to work with even after heating and it took the print off the CPU like sandpaper". It looks like that is what happened to your CPU. Do you or a friend have a another CPU you could pop in and test? Or does someone have motherboard you could stick your CPU in? This way you can find out if it's messed up before you send it back. It would suck to RMA it only to find out it's something else that's causing the problem, like the motherboard. Good luck.
