Hello so i got this card
and i played around in AB and used KB to check for temps and artifacts i went as high as 890 on core but only lik 2025 on memory.
no probs but i got the
gpu throttling once yesterdáy and the temps were nowhere near dangerous 62-63C tops.
so today on default i tried KB and it showed Gpu throttle -3Mhz
but as far as i know unless temps are like 99C-100C adn i temper with voltages the card should be good 2 go.
so why is that and if i check the MSI webssite on this card it is default 810mhz core 4008 memory why is it downclocked to 800 adn even worse to 797 according to MSI KB no matter what driver i use?
and if i OC the card to say 841core and 2025mem no throttling no artifacts.
Wierd is what i think of it
what do you guys think?

Isn't it Kombustor that's causing the card to throttle? I think it's something in the drivers. Not sure because i never use it.

It is actually not in the drivers...

The GTX 580 has a power limiting chips according to Anandtech.. it should not throttle ever in realistic 3D apps.. does it throttle in 3DMark11 or Heaven?

test with heaven 3.0 looping 2-3 hours or crysis benchmarking tool. 99 runs maxed out. assault harbor. both will stress your cards. krombuster and furmark are useless on the 580 as you read before

i will do that and see what happens but to loop Heaven 3.0 do i need to buy it ?
i couyldn´t get it to loop more than 5 times and only the built in demo the results
Crysis Benchmark
v1.0.0.0

The benchmark started at 2012-08-02 11:57:18
VGA benchmark information
Demo: Crytek Built-in
Quality: Very High (with tweaks)
Renderer mode: DirectX 10
Antialising mode: 16xQ
Filtering mode: Anisotropic 16×
MultiGPU support: Disabled
Use Custom Config File: No

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Resolution: 1920×1080 (HD WideScreen)
Result(1): Minimum= 18 FPS Average= 28 FPS Max= 37 FPS
Result(2): Minimum= 18 FPS Average= 28 FPS Max= 37 FPS
Result(3): Minimum= 18 FPS Average= 28 FPS Max= 37 FPS
Result(4): Minimum= 18 FPS Average= 28 FPS Max= 37 FPS

damn it still pretty demanding game with all eye candy on and i thought heck a i5 3570K+gtx580 twinf.PE. would just eat it for breakfest but no siree it is stil demanding.
i do not have any confis and such for this game anymore and don´t know wich ones to get and from where either

I have the exact same card and the clocks are 800/2004. AB shows 797. I don't know what you are worried about. If you really want 810 just set it manually. It won't make a difference anyway.

Your card is not throttling in games. I also doubt you will be able to game at 890 core without adding voltage. It worked in kombustor because the card is designed to throttle there.

I max out at 930-940 core with max voltage in afterburner. 890 without upping the voltage results in a driver not responding message.

What was your score in 3dmark11?

I get 6623 with stock clocks cpu @4.6 and 7567 @ 930/2100

i´ll run 3Dmark 11 and post the result here

here is what i get stock clocks wich is 797/2004
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/4026996
And i missread the specs it is sepced:
Core 800
mem2004
and that 3Mhz thing i also heard is normal so the card is good to go
but how much can i safely clock this without tampering with voltages adn will i get a boost?

Normal result altough it says the card was running at 820 not stock

You'll need to find out yourself how far you can go without adding voltage. I never tried how high mine would go on stock voltage.

890 doesn't work for me but my card isn't exactly the best overclocker. Maybe it will work for you.

not so much difference between 820 and 800=91 points difference

i do see some color flickering red or green very fast flashes, core 852 mem 2036
i heaven.
but temps are for core 54C mem 46C vrm46C´ish
so nothing goes beyond 70C so what can those color flickers be if i go down to 820/2005 no flickers, i played some D3 with hte card core841 mem 2015 i think
is there an issues afterall with this card?
but i can´t see it throttling either looking at the OSD
