SuperSampling eh? I wonder if that's what's needed to get that extra cinematic effect that some of the developer screenshots have... must test this out asap.

ok, I worked it out, depending on what pacific time they mean (standard/daylight) it'll either be launched at 7:00AM or 8:00AM. either way, that's good for me, Saturday morning, I'll be there to log in and make sure I get into my guild's server

EDIT: they're also doing a 4 hour long stress test tomorrow

Yea, me too. It's a good thing they pair up the servers with similar scores to make it all equal matches. There's only 1 con about WvW: there was very little movement in the playing field. You're constantly attacking the same few locations, either as offense or defense. If the gates weren't so strong, I think there would be a lot more dynamic power shifts, placing the heat of battle in different places, which is also great for discovering the Vista's and PoI's within WvW over the entire map.

Anyone playing the stress test? I'm getting worse performance than in BWE3 where my gpu usage sat above 90% most of the time, now I'm getting between 50-70%.

Was that in different areas? What about the number of people around you?

Edit: I get awful performance, it's trying to run it on the intel 4000 rather than my 7970m, awful drivers. :|

yeah, it was in WvW which I didn't play before. quite a lot of people around. Turned off adaptive vsync which helped a bit. still, in heavy battles my fps drops to around 30 and my gpu usage goes down to 50-70%. I guess a faster cpu would help feeding the gpu :/

EDIT: I'm done playing now, tried Warrior for the first time tonight and loved it, it'll be my main. Also tried WvW for the first time and it was epic! They could easily release WvW on it's own and it would sell like hotcakes! the game is really fun, everyone should try it (or at least look up some youtube videos before making up their mind). I'll upload a few screenshots in the screenshot thread from this session in a minute.

EDIT: Here is a link to the screenshots.

EDIT 2: so would a gtx 670 help me improve the performance to 50+ fps in heavy combat in WvW? anyone with a similar rig to mine but a gtx 670 can answer? thanks.

I think DX11 should help performance a bit (well, without the extra DX11 shinies), but even still, I would have thought better at 4.5ghz, thats the sort of performance I got at 2ghz.

Just give it time, it'll get better, and hey, at least we don't have to worry about wasting subs.

I'm sure new drivers will help, a few patches to optimize things too. dx11 might help a bit, you never know. the performance is good, don't get me wrong, only drops to around 30fps when there's like 30+ people attacking a gate and there's god knows how many on the wall from the opposing team. But it's like this in most MMOs, remember doing a Rift Raids in Rift and my fps dropped to teens (that was on my old rig) but it was running 50+ in the open world.

If CPU will have a large performance on the game with higher clock speeds, Im gonna overclock the bejesus out of mine

Of course, I assume they will launch with a game that's more dependable on the GPU than it is now.

Unfortunately DX11 wont be added anytime soon. It's being released with DX9 and a post made on the forum by one of the devs said DX11 may be looked into as a future option.

@ eclap

I would wait until the game is released before making any decisions about a new card. Surprisingly I am having not one problem during this stress test, unlike what I had in the previous BWE. CPU utilization is still crap though. Core 0 is almost maxed out and Core 2 is roughly 75%-80% usage. GPU usage is up since supersampling (which i'm currently using) was added. I'm getting between 73%-87% GPU usage depending on where i'm at. I haven't done any WvWvW today, so I can comment on how well that is working.

Doubt it, less than 4 weeks to go, they would spend most of the time now trying to get bugs fixed in the quest and the servers ironed out.

Edit, yeah I had heard about the DX11 delays.

At least it's better now, in the first BWE I don't think it used more than 1 core.

This is my WvWvW cpu usage from tonight, all maxed but without supersampling which has too much of a hit for my liking.

it seems that when I'm questing, my gpu usage sits at 99% most of the time, but when it gets busy in WvWvW it drops significantly. not sure why.

game has to spend more time processing other people compared to pure graphics, it's going to take a hit then

yeah, I understand that I remember Ilum in SWTOR, the daily open world PvP battle used to drop my fps even more than that, it ran between 10-20fps but removing health bars helped there big time to boost the fps to 30+ for me. maybe there'll be some neat tricks in GW2 too, to make the big battles more silky.

Again, these drops only happen when a lot of people are involved at chokepoints, like gates etc. My last game I was defending on the wall, it felt a bit stuttery, looked at my fps and it was showing 58fps, go figure.

It ran really smooth for me I can even get 50-60 with super sampling on (which looks beautiful btw) I get 70-90 with it off.

Thats all in pve in large group I didn't play any WvWvW as the gf doesn't like it :3
