Fernando did you estract the Bios OROM Raid Intel RAID ROM module v11.5.0.1582 from that Biostar Bios ? If so please can you post it here and share it with us to give it a try , im also in transition to upgrading from my old dying , and aging Asus Rampage 3 eXtreme x58 mobo i7 950 combo , to a newly fresh Asus Z77 Mobo and i5 3570k so i will have a lot of testing going on with Z77 Intel chipset during the next few days.

Okey I will try that, how do I know what the DeviceID/VendorID RAID Controller is on my Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe ?

You have 8086,2822 (because you have a Desktop PC), but you should replace the PCI ROM named 8086,282a (stands for a Mobile/Laptop), because both Devices DEV_2822 and DEV_282a) are using the exactly same Intel RAID ROM module.
ASUS is lazy and uses the same DeviceID for all their Desktop and Mobile mainboards, when they are building the BIOS files. That is somehow irritating for the user.
So it's safe, if you chosse the 8086,282a ROM module.

Default TRIM works within RAID0 under Win7 and Win8 - 08-02-2012, 19:45 | posts: 25 | Location: Germany

After having replaced my Z68 chipset mainboard by a Z77 chipset one, Trim obviously was working within my RAID0 array (2x128 GB Crucial M4 SSDs).
Yesterday I could verify it with Win8 x64 by doing a simple Trim analysis test. >Here< I have described the Trim verification test we used and reported about the first findings of btester and andressergio. You can see my new test results and the related screenshots running Win8 x64 with an Intel Z77 system >here< are the screenshots). Today I repeated the tests with Win7 x64 (look >here<). In both tests the SSD sector with the deleted file has been zeroed out within seconds. Garbage Collection is not able to do it.
Precondition: Use of the latest Intel RST(e) RAID ROM and RAID drivers of the v11.5 series.

Thanks for the update and confirmation.

Now i've got a decision to make....
Wait for (if any) z68 support, or waste £100 on a new z77 mobo just for TRIM.... Hmmmm

Godda read all the info, and get up to date.

Updated thread title, but it won't update it in the forum list... any tips for that?

Yes, I have tested it with my Z68 RAID0 system. Trim is definitively not (yet) working with Z68 chipset RAID0 systems.
You can see the screenshots with the Trim test results >here<.

Fernando or anyone who can please help me , i have tried to Mod the latest Bios 0404 for my new Asus P8Z77-V LK but i keep getting a message while trying to flash the moded Bios that says " "Security Verification" warning , i dont have a ROG board on this Z77 chipset so cannot do the ROG flashback ( http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...BIOS-Flashback ) , this Mobo has only one Bios chip its not like my old Asus Rampage extreme x58 that had 2 Bios. So i have to be extra careful to not corrupt the Bios. I did succesfully Moded the Asus Rampage 3 extreme x58 Bios using your guide , i replace the OROM twice without any problem , its this UEFI Bios wich i dont understand so much , i have tried for 2 days and for the life of me i cannot mod this Bios correctly , can someone here with a good Soul help me and Mod this Bios 0404 for me with the latest intel Bios Raid OROM 11.5.0.1582

Motherboard is Asus P8Z77-V LK

Latest Bios 0404 here http://www.mediafire.com/?4h2kdhdnu5rkz56

I have just read the Great News we were all waiting for , at XS my own tread about Raid OROM 11.5 and Intel RST Driver 11.5 Findings the research and testing that a lot of us did paid off , Computurd who its an SSD reviewer and writter Full Time at the website http://thessdreview.com/ and Now he is also a reviewer and writter at the storage section of tweak town , a true expert and Guru of Storage and SSDs said " I have been informed by an industry contact that TRIM in RAID 0 is in fact working and that it has been confirmed , I will provide more detail once i can. I am getting further news on it tomorrow.

Im so waiting and loooking forward to his Report and News , and it feels great knowing that finally someone in the industry who ots a leading expert on this subject will post the good news himself , Yes Windows 7 and W8 Both OS are using TRIM if use with Intel Bios OROM 11.5 and Raid Driver RST 11.5 while in Raid0 usning Intel integrated Raid Controller !

VOILA - Trim has been proven 100% accurate to work in a Raid0 arrays. It works in Both OS , W7 and W8 , you do need to be running the latest Bios Raid OROM 11.5 and Latest 11.5 Drivers in order to work + Z77 chipset for now ( Maybe in a future Bios Update for your chipset ( P67 , p68 , x79 ) they will be supported ), it just working for Z77 only at this moment , it wont be long before Intel disclose all the information , Happy Trimming Day guys

Conclusion on this article:

Conclusion:

RAID 0 TRIM has indeed arrived. It won’t be long before we start seeing board manufacturers serving up 11.5.0.1582 or higher OROMs with their BIOS’s. When they do you can be confident that whether you are running Windows 7 or 8 along with the correct chipset/s and IRST driver your RAID 0 array will have functioning TRIM. Intel has delivered on their promise to give us what we’ve all been waiting for RAID 0 TRIM. As of today there is NOTHING a single drive can do that a RAID 0 Array cannot do better. This day has been a long time coming and brings with it forth coming satisfaction for thousands of INTEL RAID 0 users. Awesome job INTEL, simply awesome!

And Its official !

Dan Snyder, PR Manager of Intel Corporation :

" “Trim on RAID 0 for SSDs is supported in the Intel RST driver versions 11.0 and newer. Currently available for the general public on Intel’s downloads site is RST driver version 11.2 which offers TRIM support on RAID 0 compatible with MS Windows 7 OS on Intel 7 series chipsets (earlier chipsets NOT supported). Intel is also working on a future release providing support for TRIM on RAID 0 on Microsoft Windows 8 OS for Intel 7 series chipsets. “

Cool.

Ive not had time to install my z77 mobo, but hopefully will get round to it 2mrw.

So this announcement means i can use the better performing 11.2 drivers then and still have TRIM in RAID 0 ??
Would i need OROM 11.2 or 11.5 then to go with RST 11.2 ??

(i found 11.2 drivers to be faster on reads by about 10% vs 11.5 series on my M4 array and z68)

Guess Fernando has proven the answer to my query here

On z77 with OROM 11.2.0.1257 and RST 11.2.0.1006 TRIM is proven working.

Matches what Intel statement says.

That is correct.
With this combination OROM v11.2.0.1527/Driver v11.2.1006 I got the best performance with my 2x128 GB Crucial M4 SSD RAID0 system (look >here<) - plus TRIM support as extra bonus!

Indeed, but they deny the TRIM support on Windows 8, although it definitively works with Win8 too.

I installed my z77 finally today and also using the 11.2.0.1527 OROM and 11.2.0.1006 RST and performance is better for reads on my 2x 64gb M4's.
Very happy TRIM is working on this combo as a bonus indeed !!

Thanks for testing it out, saved me having to use the 11.5 OROM & RST where my read speeds suffered a big hit !!
