Default XBOX 360S 4GB new HDMI issue... - 07-30-2012, 21:59 | posts: 62 | Location: PA, USA

Greetings, and I will get to the matter at hand. We have 2 identical XBOX 360S 4GB models in our home. There are 2 flatscreen LCD TV's, (1) 37" Emerson and (1) 32" RCA. These Xboxes are about 6 months old and pampered. Both have been hooked up to either said TV via HDMI and component as well as standard video at one time or another. Now, all of a sudden my wifes Xbox will not display via HDMI on the 37" TV. This Xbox will display via HDMI on the 32". Now, here is the best part, my Xbox displays via HDMI on both TV's ! For some extremely strange reason the wifes Xbox is having a specific display issue with the 37" TV. I do not understand why, because both Xbox's worked fine with either TV in any video configuration up till last week. Tripled checked and trouble shooted all cables and video ports and all are working correctly. Did a live chat with Xbox support for about 1 1/2 Hrs and no remedy except to send the console in for repair. ( It is still under warrranty thankfully.) Before I send this out for repair, I was wondering if anybody has a similar problem and a fix for it. I am totally out of ideas. It just does not make sense to me. Also the TV's are not smart TV's, so there has not been any firmware changes etc... Thanks

Yes, I tried to perform the Video Reset. No success. The front panel light appears to do the standard "swirl" and then a single green center dot with the player 1 controller light to the top left. Under normal circumstances there should be video output at this point. (When either XBox is powered up, without any video cable, the system is in standby with only the green center dot, no swirl, no controller indicator, nothing else. Once a video cable is attached then the system fully comes on.) Thanks for the post...

If the TV set has two or more HDMI ports, did you set the TV set to the correct HDMI port before turning on the XBOX 360? Try a different HDMI cable.

Heard of this before and sometimes it turned out to be the actual HDMI port failing on a couple of people. At this point though from what you described it could be the actual Xbox itself. If you have a PC or a Laptop try to see if the HDMI on the TV is properly displaying.

The XBOX with the issue WILL display via HDMI on the 32" LCD but no longer the 37" LCD. (It used to work fine with both.) And yes, I have triple checked all cables and used other HDMI equipment with the TV that I am having trouble with, all HDMI ports on the TV are working. The crazy thing is the other XBOX works fine with both TVs via HDMI. Cannot figure this one out...
