Default GTX 480 SLI + Dual monitors - 07-25-2012, 16:51 | posts: 7 | Location: Iceland

Greetings.

I just recently added a second GTX480 to my setup. Right now I have them both in and one monitor connected to each card.

In SLI mode the 1st GPU will downclock to normal 2D settings, the 2nd GPU will downclock to about half the stock clocks.

The thing is if I disable SLI then they both downclock to normal 2D settings. So to minimize heat I would always have to be disabling SLI and then re-enabling it when playing games.

I read online that the card that has the second monitor connected will always be clocked higher and that's true, if I connect the second monitor to GPU1 (so it has both monitors) then it clocks half way down but the 2nd GPU clocks all the way to normal 2D settings.

Is there any way to force them both down to 2D settings when in SLI mode?

Cheers.

I've tried running one on each card but cant get them to work. Wish i could try at least. But you can use inspector power saver feature to keep them at 51MHz. Check this out for more info and how to delay it at boot if it interferes with oc apps

Edit- Best to add the apps to the exempt list rather than to use the threshold sliders. I find those to be not very reliable

Depends on what you mean by GPU score, what program would you like me to try out?

Cheers.
