Nice price, however I strongly suggest staying away from SSD drives that implement asynchronous nand. I say this keeping in mind you can pickup a Samsung 830 128gb, with toggle-mode nand, for as little as $89.99.

TBH, the difference in performance is so small (toggle vs asynch) that you would never know which one you're using without actually looking at the drive or measuring it with a benchmark.

The only thing that would discourage me from the agility 3 is lingering doubts [admittedly unproven / FUD] about whether or not the firmware has gotten all the bugs out yet.

The nand type wouldn't even factor in...

But for that price per GB/Performance + the latest firmware are very stable and good SSD. For $71 Dollars cannot be beat , that price anywhere in the world at this moment

In Canada we have been getting these prices also, A-Data 120gig SSD $79. Its tempting, this winters PC upgrade should go nice the way prices are on everything.

I'd say the difference is more than a little. Either way 120gb SSD for $72.00 is a very nice price. If you have a few more dollars, and can snatch one up fo $89.99, a 128gb Samsung 830 is even better.

About 3 months ago i picked up a corsair force 3 120gb which uses asynchronous nand and performance has been amazing compared to a mechanical drive as this was my first ssd and with no problems at all. However this is an excellent deal for someone who hasn't got an ssd due to high prices yet and is looking for the cheapest first time ssd.

Oh man.

Tigerdirect has the 240GB OCZ Agility 3 for a measly $140 after rebate.

This is incredible, just $0.58 cents a GB compared to last years average of $1.5-$2 a GB.

The difference is really a moot point for those upgrading from a mechanical drive to an SSD. Either way they'll see better performance. Also, since most benchmarks are synthetic, they rarely provide results that can be verified in "real-world" usage scenarios.

You can also get Intel 330 SSD Series 120GB which is every bit as good as the "hyped" Samsung M830 - which admittedly is good, but the 330 is just every bit as good and a bit cheaper... at least in Denmark.
The 330 has synchronous nand.
