Default evga 670 ftw - 07-23-2012, 21:46 | posts: 2,280 | Location: USA

So i just bought said card for my Bday for 397$ shipped. to replace the 450gts that i not to fond of, that i got as rma from the 9800 i had from evga 9800gt had lifetime warranty and so does the 450gts i got sent. So i have back up card in case something goes wrong with the 670 ftw.

Now the 670 has 3 year warranty which roughly how long the 9800gt last me before the 28x series driver killed it with tdr out the ass and system locks and corruption till my even my bios was showing corruption.

I just hope this vsync bug is worked out soon, 400$ is huge amount money for me to drop on gpu, seeing i never payed more then 200$ for any gpu i ever bought, I dont want to have buyers remorse cause of stupid driver bug. And I want this card to last 5+ years so i thinking of getting the 5 year extension warranty from evga for 20$ more.

Is there anything I should know about the 670 gtx? other then vsync studder bug? and the people I keep hearing saying they 670 gtx has qaulity control issues??

I know the 670 should be huge performance increase over the 450gts and considering I have 1080p 60hz monitor and I cap everything with vsync this card should serve me well for the 5 years i plan to keep it yes??

i have the evga 670 ftw and its rock solid. i am not noticing any vsync stutter on what i play. the memory is really good on this ftw edition, far better than any other evga card i have ever had. but to say this card will serve you well for 5 years is false. sure it will handle any game for the next 5 years, but i dont think it will max games once the next gen consoles hit in like 2 years, not with vsync anyway. At that time you will need maxwell gpu's if you wanna stay maxed out.

Nobody can look into the future but considering the 670 is one of the fastest cards out now, it will last you quite a while. I don't know if I missed something but I think what you heard is that the 670 is actually a "crippled" 680. All the chips that couldn't maintain the 1536 stream processors with the 680 clock speed, have been sold as 670's (1344 stream processors). Benefit of that is that they can be overclocked much better than a 680.

I'm pretty sure you did nothing wrong with getting a 670. If I had known that the 670 would have been this close to the 680, I would have waited and got me a 670. Nevertheless, I'm still very happy with the performance of my 680.

5 years is lofty aim, that 9800gt last me 3 years and i still think it better then the 450gts they replace it with. so it more like loft aim if anything that 5 years.

and honsetly I dont high hopes for next gen consoles from the rumrers going around on them, the true 1080p @ 60 FPS and 4x AA dont seem to feasible still

Just for the heck of it test your system with Hyper threading turned off and report back.

it will easily play every game out now at max settings and godly AA levels. i know because i have done so.

its the first time i have seen crysis 1080p 8xAA +fxaa for good measure! play around 50 fps. this could not be done with fermi. BF3 maxed is absolutly no sweat for this card

with this card you should be using atleast 8xAA +fxaa @1080p. anything less is just a waste of the cards power. you can oc the memory another 500-600 mhz. i keep mine at +400 its enough and i dont wanna push memory too hard

I cannot OC the core at all on mine. Just be aware of that... Mem clock is fine tho.

In Secret World, even +1 core clock would make me crash eventually. At +0, it's rock solid and not a single crash?

Ocing will most likely not happen. I dont know enough about OC and I not inclined to learn to oc things. tho i will probably start using 8x AA and AO and Supersampling the 450 just couldnt do any combination of that and not choice, unless it was 10 year old game
