I have tried everything that I know of to get sound from my Radeon HD5570 PCI card with no luck.
I have a W7 64 bit PC and am trying to get it to work as an HTPC running XBMC. I am running an HDMI cable from the PC to my mancave A/V center, with the HDMI cable input into my Emotiva UMC-1 Preamp/processor. I get a video signal, no problem but cant get audio from the card. I have tried the Catalyst Control Center (CCC) versions 12.1, 12.3 and 12.6 with no luck.
I have disabled onboard audio in BIOS but still no sound. When I am playing a source on my PC (MP3's through Media Monkey, or a movie through XBMC) and I open "playback devices" the ATI HDMI Output has the sound bar bumpin but I am getting no sound. So clearly the card is getting sound from my applications, just not sending it through to my A/V system.
Dont know what to do from here. Pretty frustrating to have an HDMI card that doesnt work. The most frustrating part is that I have long been an audiophile and the specifics about the capabilities of the card I have indicates that every format under the sun is supported to include DTS and DTS HD among others...I really like DTS so thats some pretty exciting stuff, except it wont play.
What to do?
