Default HDMI Port was working fine but suddenly no longer works. - 07-11-2012, 02:25 | posts: 2

Hi i have a Radeon HD 6850 and since i got the card i have been using this setup.

Screen 1 : DVI
Screen 2 : VGA to DVi Converter in top DVI slot
Screen 3 : HDMI

I had this setup for a while and my card would see all 3 screen connected but obviously this card can only run 2 screens so i would alternate them using the screen resolution settings in Windows to switch screens.

I use my 2 main monitors in dual screens and then when in bed i switch my Pc to show on my TV through HDMI. I had this setup on my previous card and also this one. It was just this week i was watching a youtube video on my TV and the screen went black and said no signal and since then this setup had no longer been working. I have the latest 12.6 drivers it was fine after installing them so i doubt its the recent update. I've had the TV working once or twice after restarting pulling cables out and so forth but its never consistent.

One thing to note is i can use the 2 monitors on DVI and DVI to VGA and they will be working fine in dual screens, but when i connect the HDMI cable all screens go black and show no signal even on the TV. I used to be able to have all 3 plugged in and be able to select which 2 screens i would like to display on.

Anyone else had this problem? It so frustrating how it can randomly stop working when i had not been changing settings or done anything any different.

Someone please help me out thanks.

Apart from trying other device, most probable problem is the cable.

It does look bad tho. It could be the GPU...

Thank you both for the reply.

Well I've tried to plug the HDMI cable in to my monitor and it will display fine but when in the same situation but plugged in to my TV it shows no signal. When i plug the cable in the PC does make the sound to say its connected and it even shows up on the sound settings as the default audio device.

I've also tried the cable on my Xbox 360 through HDMI to the TV and it works fine on both ports of the TV. So i can't see it being the cable, I have had the TV display with PC before since it went wrong but that was only from messing around pulling the cables out and trying different combinations when i tried them again it wouldn't work and i cant understand why this is happening. It's been fine for months.
