Hi, im looking forward to a geforce 680 gtx, but i dunno if is it a wise move to do it now, when win 8 is going to be released soon, and probbably DX12 with it... what do u recommend me? Should i buy a new video card right now, or w8 for DX 12 to be released, in case that older GPU's cant use it?

MaxPayne3 dx11.1?
@ thread starter,
dont worry you won't see dx12 for a loong time. Also any nv dx11 gpu is dx11.1 (since 301.34), so that's that

I'd say for even even looooooooooooooooooooooooooonger time. The new XBOX is going to be a DX11 one, so even when DX12 arrives, I expect game developers to stick to DX11 for a really long time.

Like 80% of the Games still use DX9 because they are developed for Consoles and then ported to the PC.

The last game to make use properly of DX10 was farcry 2,i have not seen any game yet use DX11 in the same way let alone DX12.
DX11 is just a fad and is not needed tbh as its never used enough for it to be noticed....i mean Tesselation....where is it?I still dont see it being used hardly at all....hence FAD!

DX11 doesnt know anything about tessellation. It does has a nice geometry shader stage that can be used to do tessellation, among other useful things that can improve performance and reduce memory consumption. Those things are what matters when deciding between say, use 2xMSAA or 4xMSAA, or deciding between a crappy implementation of AO and a good looking global illumination approximation.
