You're right IMO.
If you have Max Payne 3 installed (using Crossfire 7970's) you will notice serious graphic corruption ingame with these new 12.6 WHQL drivers; the kind you will find if you are overclocking your card. Problem is im not overclocking, using default clocks, rolled back to 12.6 Beta (June 4th) and everything is back to normal, no issues, no graphics corruption.
Deus Ex HR flickering during video sequences including the intro is also still not fixed when using Crossfire with these 12.6 WHQL's. If you disable one card in your crossfire setup no more flickering, Deus Ex HR plays fine.
I really believe the driver team is using single card for testing. Smh...

These drivers are crappy, 12.4 was a much better experience, worst whql I have ever used. Idle clocks are broken, bad gfx performance and just generally bad weird display issues. This driver and 12.7 beta behaved the same. I suggest we stay away and wait for 12.7 whql possibly 12.8. Seems like in their rush to make the 7900 series run better they have ****ed over some of the older gfx cards, especially with dx 10.1 cards and below being left out.

"Run better" my ass...i just posted above you and described my crappy experience with 7970 Crossfire (going all the way back to the 12.4 drivers), this is a series-wide clusterfuuk for AMD.
Seriously considering ebaying these cards now and just go back to nvidia :/

Anybody still having their drivers crash after wake up/idle? This is my first time with AMD, and so far the drivers have been causing me a lot of trouble. Do the drivers normally cause this much trouble?
Edit: now it also randomly crashes when im surfing the web or watching youtube videos.

I have no problems at all, and tested many games.
Maby you have not uninstalled the previous drivers propperly.
Try and uninstall them, and then use Driver Sweeper in safe mode.
I just switched from a Gigabyte 460 GTX 1GB OC to an Sapphire 7850, and i must say that i like it alot
You can also try this : http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=241
"Uninstall the drivers, after you do it, reboot and clean the leftovers with Atiman Uninstaller (download the latest version) use the automatic mode, after its done reboot again!
Now reboot and install the new drivers again.

I had this issue in an AMD laptop VPC-YB1S1E/S. With these drivers.
A good workaround for me was to enable my screensaver functionality, from none to Ribbons or Bubbles. Wait: 7 minutes.
It didn't happen again... no need to update BIOS and no need to disable sleep mode.

Both the 12.6 and 12.7 Beta drivers give me the same issue. After playing a game for a few minutes, the drivers crash, screen blanks out, one (or both? hard to tell) of the cards fans max out and I have to power my system off and back on. No such issue with 12.4. Bull****.
Running two 7970s in Windows 7 64bit.

Hi,
I am just thinking, why do people have so much trouble with drivers. I am using AMD cards for two years and I can say, that only two versions of drivers where not so good. I dont have any problems with games, movies, browsing the web (month ago I had problem with it but Adobe Flash 11.3 was bugged, got back to 11.2 and its ok now).
I know that AMD is not innocent. But i bet, a lot of users has problems because of messy system drive. Through the last month I have installed/uninstalled drivers to my AMD card a lot of times. Still working well on 12.4.
According to drivers. 12.6 and 12.7 Beta makes some strange looking effects when watching a movies in MPC- Home Cinema. When trying to skip forward for a few times, i see changed colours and huge pixels. On 12.4 i donthave this issue. But games working fine on 12.6 and 12.7 (Batman AC, Witcher 2 EE, Metro 2033, Assassin's Creed II and Left 4 Dead series. Didnt check Battlefield 3 but i wasnt in the mood for this game for a last few weeks.)
Sorry for mistakes if any. I am not a native english speaker.

Scailing Proablem with 12.6 -
07-04-2012, 14:32
On all other ati drivers I had to go to scailing options and move the slider over to 0.After that all is good. Now with 12.6 or 12.7 beta when the pc reboots and the desktop comes up the scailing is reverted to like before, and after mabey 10-15 sec when the catalyst icon appears in the taskbar the screen fills out full like how I set it to.Never had a ati driver before that would act like this.I uninstalled 12.6 and went back to 12.4 and its all good.Just 12.6 whql and 12.7 beta do this.Anyone else have this delay to the scailing when booting and the desktop appears. Its got me stumped...

You have a single videocard, most driver problems occur with multiple videocards in one system. Then there are some system related errors yes. But the majority is x-fire/trifire users that face problems.

OMG, you are probably right. I forgot about multiple GPU systems.
But ok, a lot of people claims that they are going to NV cards because of driver issues on multiple AMD GPU systems. It sounds like NV users dont have any problems with multiple GPU systems.

Anyone play team fortress 2 here with theses drivers? I had a green screen crash tonight with theses. All other games have worked good, But I did notice BF3 was droping frames here and there compared to 12.4. So just wondering have any of you had green screen crash? I have switched back to 12.4 for time being.

After requesting a reason why my card was not included in the supported ones in this driver when it has been in every other Mobility version, I finally received an answer. I got the usual stuff about using the drivers from the laptop manufacturer even though we all know those only get updated once in a blue moon. When I replied that I have been using every mobility version since the 11.6 one with no problems the guy said this. " I am glad to know that the 12.4 drivers work without problems but you should still use the ones from the manufacturer. Therefore, I insist (not suggest, mind you), that you continue using the 12.4 set.

do me a favor. Start a TF2 Training Match (against bots) and choose the Map gorge. Do that choosing as fast as you can. As soon as you are in game choose Spectator. And see if all textures are okay. Here i got the issues that some textures will be black (most of time the Pipes). Seems to be related with Vsync - when Vsync is enabled the issue doesn't seem to occur.
If you don't have this issue at the first time reloard the map and try it another time.I just think TF2 works really bad with the drivers right now. I have this issue with 2 AMD cards on 2 different Systems.

Haven't seen anyone mention this *yet* But...
I used the CPU auto tune utility in Catalyst Control Centre on these drivers and... After a reboot once the CPU had reached it's max possible OC, The whole CPU auto tune disappeared from CCC itself with no way of getting it back so I can continue the next step of OC'ing my CPU.
Any fixes for this guys?

hm.. i have a weird issue with this 12.6whql and that 12.7 beta, my 40inch led tv (which is my desktop monitor) suddenly produce a striped white screen then bam! my system hangs, only option is to manually power off my system. this happens randomly, there are times when i'm just surfing the net produces the same issue. this is my first time using an amd gpu. my old second hand 9600gt still works! my goodness, so i'm just wondering if it is "still" a driver issue or a hardware issue. Btw my sapphire hd7850 is 3weeks old so i'm just wondering maybe it's the card's fault?

Your card is probably fine. I have the same issue.
These drivers just suck for a lot of people, i recommend going back to 12.4WHQL

thanks bro, i thought it was the card's fault because before i installed those, i did clean install my os for both drivers so that "driver remant" issue is out of the question. i'm glad i found similar issue. i guess i should revert back to 12.4, though i must say 12.7beta did boost some performance on some of my games, but still as a we want stability and performance^^, i'm glad amd changed their driver release scheme. i hope when they release 12.7whql or 12.8whql they've retained the stability 12.4 had or much better^^

My feedback on this set of drivers , eventhought they are whql , i did a w7 x64bit fresh install , installed every latest driver for chipset , lan , USB 3 , sata , sound and This 12.6whql set on my 2x HD6950 Crossfire set up hook to a 47 inches HDLCD TV via HDMI 1920/1080p. BAM , BAM , i had my first blue screen followed by a reboot , I checked everything was working fine on my fresh windows install ,I was browsing the web and again BAM , BAM i lost video signal and all i saw was the black screen on my TV for a few minutes , i could click the mouse and hear sounds in windows but for some reason there was video signal lost completely , the only way out of this was to do a hard shut down pressing the power button on my case , restarted everything was smooth and fine and while watching a youtube video i had a BSOD error ATI driver related , now i had uninstalled this driver and installed back 12.3whql and everything its normal again , no more BSOD , no more hard lock ups or lost video signal , conclusion = something its very wrong with this set of drivers. Now my system is happily working on old 12.3whql now. Well thats my experiance and feedback on this driver.
