Sata2 is 3Gigabit per second, so maximum transfer rate is ~375Meg a second, you'll never get that, but i have an Agility 3 that does ~300Meg a second and im very very happy. SSD's shine in random reads compared to harddrives( i.e. in most cases random read speed is more important and serial reads ), thats what kills windows on load up( loading all the extra crap installed ), but with an SSD once windows is open there is no more loading.

I had Vertex 2 and vertex 3 for some time , but i had many problems with those SSDs mostly due to SanDForce controllers used on them + Firmware , Compatility problems wirh Mobos and some of my Adaptec and Areca Raid Cards , with the later updated firmwares they became usable , but i wont trust SanDForce Controllers ever again , i lost so much data due to BSOD and file corruptions and many other problems is not even funny. I Started using SSDs many years ago since they first came out , i had 4 OCZ Core Series SSDs in Raid0 First generation SSDs and First SSDs made by OCZ , I still would not trust my data over a SanDforce controller. I just made a switch to Samsungs 830 128GB Raid0 when they went on sale for $89US Dollars , Then Sold all my OCZ SSDs , now i bought 2 of these Crucial M4 128GB , i will be running all my PCs and laptops at home on SSDs. Thank God the pricing war has started on the SSDs , the price keep dropping as the days goes by . Great for us consumers.

£74

ps Vertex 2 here has been awesome, 2 years old in 1 month.
Has given me the most stable PC experience ever (used on Gigabyte X38 and P67a motherboards).
Had my fair share of crashes (through rabid overclocking, messing with OS, drivers...), but using an SSD for the OS has saved me from having to run scandisk on the OS drive, not even once has it been needed.
Normally within 2 years I have had to restore my OS from backup at least a few times due to crash corruption.
I'm not knocking others experience with Vertex 2's though, this is fyi.

Nice price, very tempted for a separate games drive but could do with 240GB.

+1 for the Crucial m4

here is what the benches look like for this drive on P67 chipset

less write performance than SanForce 2 but more stable

Got mine a few weeks ago for $120. I think it was $180 at beginning of year? Have a feeling 1tb SSDs will be around the $100 mark in 2 or 3 years.

yea I paid $174 on newegg less than a year ago for 2 of these drives UGH!

Not as bad as $65 for a 32gb microSD card last august and to see how cheap they are now too...

I hate looking at the price drops on some tech toys.

Anyways, great SSD...I have one for a HTPC/server and the other for my work computer. I would jump on these drives for anyone waiting...both are on a SATA 2 mobo.

What's with the 512 byte speed?
I've never before noticed it being that fast.
