Default DirectX 10,10.1, & 11 resolution cap issue. - 06-13-2012, 21:22 | posts: 740 | Location: Honolulu, Hawaii

I can't get Max Payne 3 to run at 1920x1080 in DX11/10 on my Sony Bravia(KDL-V40XBR1). DX9 works just fine, but whenever I select anything higher the resolution caps at 1280x720. The options for higher resolutions literally disappear in the games graphics menu. I've tried editing the .inf, which proved unsuccessful, it created some odd zoom effect where the aspect ratio was all jacked up or something... Is there a workaround for this? Other games seem to work just fine in DX10/11 excluding a few here and there (Hawx for example) why is this?

I assume you've already updated to the latest drivers from Nvidia?

Not sure why this would happen. If you have updated drivers and still have issues I would try this.. Create a custom resolution in the resolution section of the nvcontrol panel. Leave everything auto and make a resolution of 1920x1082 at 60hz. That is a weird one. I have my pc on a big screen as well but I dont have that game.. Also, search the web for the location of games ini or config files. You may be able to get the resolution you need that way.

After looking up your TV model, it says Display Resolution : 1366 x 768/Native Resolution : 720p , so if you were to run games at 1080p, they'd most likely be scaled down on the TV side. So it seems like it's working correctly.

However you may want to go into your tv settings, and see if the screen is set to show in "Full Pixel" mode.
