Unhappy What frames am i looking at in bf3? - 07-05-2012, 09:48 | posts: 84 | Location: south africa

Hello so my hardware is the sig:
CPU is o.c to 2.5 ghz using my killer whale heat sink 48 degrees max
GPU is o.c also 900 mhz 1100 mhz 68 degrees max load

So my CPU and GPU usage is 100% when playing, all 4 cores maxed out.
My settings:
1600 by 900
Vsync ON
all on high
A. Deferred is on Off
A. Post High
Motion Blur OFF
A. Filter 4 x
Ambient Occlusion SSAO

So on Caspian Border i got this:
Frames: 4718 - Time: 120000ms - Avg: 39.317 - Min: 26 - Max: 62
So on Metro (in action grenades buildings collapsing)
Frames: 5192 - Time: 120000ms - Avg: 43.267 - Min: 29 - Max: 63

The game feels smooth just wondering if i can squeeze a bit more out of my hardware.
Ati drivers are on 11.4 upgrading to the latest will it give an improvement.

Thankx in advance

You could try to OC your CPU more. Updating from 11.4 too any driver that includes BF3 optimizations (i.e. released after BF3, starting from 11.11, I think) would help too.

You're getting 100% GPU load, so that's a plus...if the CPU hits the wall sudden drops in fps will occur...

At one stage I was playing BF3 with an Athlon II dual core, so I know all about CPU bottlenecking haha...

Whatever TomsHardware says should be taken with a bucketload of salt.....it's only dangerous if the vcore goes through the roof.

Anyway, if everything is running well in your view there's no need to overclock the CPU.....unless u want to for the hell of it....

Set AF to 16x and turn off SSAO, should give better image quality and performance.
