Mmm, ... I doubt it though because I had the same sort of stutter on my old 5770.

It is a high quality one, I'll check later on for what it exactly is (can't check now), but I don't skimp on my power supplies.

Been using these for a few days now. They're working great in all of the games I play. (SWTOR, DayZ, Tribes: Ascend, SSFIVAE, LoL)

They work good for Skyrim too as long as I limit the FPS with Bandicam

Try to get new PSU only for test (for rent) something like 600-700W new model (not cheap).

Annoying issue this, started with 12.6WHQL and latest betas, so annoying infact I could not believe AMD would release such a mess without some truth to the bios statement, so I took the plunge to my SaberTooth P67's latest 3302 bios... For now it looks like it cured it, atleast so far, and I've been using the 7970 with the stuff that absolutely gave blackscreen +100% fan. Anyway, I'll pop back in here if it shows it's ugly face again..

My 3302 bios is a month newer than your 3207, and 3207 never saw the light of day as a releasebios for the SaberTooth P67, only was out for a short while as a beta...

Hmm, just checked the ASRock Z68 Pro3-M site for bios upgrades, and DOH! there is one and it has in the bullet points:
  • 1. Improve discrete VGA card vBIOS compatibility.
  • 2. Add Dehumidifier Function.
  • 3. Modify for Windows8 shut down behavior.
  • 4. Update CPU code.

Ahah, I think I will try this with along with the new AMD betas and see what that does for my wonky voltage.
Plus, new Dehumidifer Function! (always wanted one, along with a pony and a working laser rifle).

I've never really checked for BIOS upgrades as long as everything works fine. Hopefully this is the fix for the problem I've had with the newer drivers.

MrSean490,

Get a quality psu like a Seasonic M12II 520w. I have one now handling a GTX 670 FTW really good. It also worked well with my older HD6950.

Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

I can't see how it can be down to motherboard BIOS, as if it was, then your card would have been crashing etc... since you installed it.

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be a base incompatiblity problem with the cards and more recent motherboards. Since, as you said, they have been working just fine.

The only thing that I can think of (and what I am hoping for) is that the way the newer drivers read the low-power state and then assigns the voltage states has changed and that it is not fully compiant with the way it was done before.

Worth a shot. Just gonna make sure I backup my motherboard's BIOS as it is right now. Cruddy BIOS upgrades are a nightmare. Don't wanna go down that road

its actually a PCIe power state issue with the bios that only manifests itself with x16 cards..

Same stuff happened with the 6900 series and the P67 chipset...

Just recently tried the beta because 12.6 has been giving me some issues. So far everything runs pretty well except for when my computer goes idle and the screen turns off, the fan on my graphics cards spins down and the spins back up repeatedly. This cause this weird noise, so i was wondering if anybody have any suggestions?

tested skyrim , it's awesome (but i've never had a issue with it before), and i swear it looks much better then it did before

it runs at a solid 60 fps (max/ultra settings) with only 34-40 % utilization on both 7970's , is there a way to unlock the fps ?? so i can see my true max fps ?

thanks

Well I'm sure it could depend on the BIOS too, but just something I noticed from forums.

12.7 have annoying issue when playing MAx Payne 3. Basically whenever you die it shows a kind of corrupted looking screen almost looks like v-sync is tearing the screen apart jagged lines and ALMOST like the screen is gonna crash because of an o/c heat issue (but im using stock speed). Using this on CrossfireX setup with 7970 and i have v-sync turned on in the game options.

I will record a vid hopefully tomorrow using fraps to show exactly the corruption im seeing shortly after dying each and every time, the rest of the game plays fine however.

BTW-I have the latest BIOS F8 for my Gigabyte U5DH mobo. Using a fresh install with the Beta 12.7 from AMD.

I updated my Asrock boards bios as well: And installed these official betas.
And i have not had any black screen crashes since.

Mine also had the compatibilty update. Not sure what fixed my issues though as i did both on the same day.

1. Improve discrete VGA card vBIOS compatibility.
2. Update CPU code.
3. Improve Internet flash.

Assuming it's a high quality model it's very unlikely to be the issue.

I'm running a 460W unit and when running PSU torture tests with my CPU @ 4.4 I still never passed ~320W pulled from the socket, so effective load was closer to 300W.

Gaming load is about 160-180W pulled from the socket.

Assuming 12V output makes up the majority of those 500W it's unlikely to be the source of the problem.

Every single driver after 12.5 unofficial beta has caused me GSODs (with vertical lines). Happens when watching streams or playing WoW on windowed mode. Guess I´m back to using modded 8.97 April 18 drivers

Wonder what that means then, does it mean that now lots of motherboards, that have been working with these cards fine for months, are now incompatible because AMD have changed something in their drivers, and if so, are they going to pay for all these owners new motherboards (and possibly CPU's), that they now have to get because of them.

No idea if you had any luck or not, but I have an Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 and aside from a BIOS update having the same description you posted, there's one newer (released *today*, no sh*t) that has the same vBIOS fix.

I don't have any of the problems that other folks are having here (5xxx series) but maybe it'll improve stability. In the very least, my case will no longer be humid!
