Default Having Internet Issues - 07-02-2012, 08:25 | posts: 29

Hey guys, I've been having this issue for weeks which is driving me crazy. Hope to get some advice on what I can do.

I'm running a 10mbps ADSL line. Very frequently, my internet connection goes down and when I check my modem, the broadbank light is lighted but my internet indicator is down. Went to my modem menu to check and likewise, broadband link is up, internet is down.

I've tried tons of things ranging from swapping another different brand of modem, calling my ISP for help, etc but nothing seems to help.

Appreciate it if anyone has any advice

you might have something in the house disturbing the line
try unplugging all stuff but the adsl modem ,
and try plugin it on the primary plug (cant remembder the name)
also , talk to your ISP, tell them to lower your speed to like, 1mbps
if the conection holds, you have issues on your house phone cables

Definitely sounds to me like a line quality issue.

The phone company should be able to come out and do a quick test to see if it is all good.

Thanks guys for the advice.

So far my ISP is unable to find the fault. Even after sending more than 10 technicians down, nothing is resolved. They've even changed my house lines, etc yet nothing seems to be helping.

I've tried everything, from changing my Microfilter, to Lan cables, to the modem itself. My ISP issues us a 2Wire 5012NV which has been replaced but the issue persists. I've personally used my own modem which is a Linksys WAG160n and the issue also occurs, but less frequent.

The problem used to happen once every few months but recently I had like 10-20 disconnections per day, which lasts from 10-20 minutes. I have not changed my internet plan at all.

It's making me very very frustrated. My last resort is changing over to fiber optic which may or may not resolve the problem. However, my ISP is quite anal and insists that I complete my contract which is till October, before I can actually do so.

Well i'm not located in the USA. I'm from Singapore

Anyway the local ISP seems to have solved the issue (for now) by rewiring my entire phone line. Hopefully that solves it permenantly.
