Other than the registry cleaner on CCleaner I don't really see much use for it. My browsers are clean and optimized (with SpeedyFox) and I don't mind a few MB of wasted space on temp files. It's not like deleting them is going to make my system any faster.
Also... we went a bit off topic. Sorry.
On topic: dvxa seems to be buggy with VLC, though it plays nice with other software. Not sure if it's entirely AMD's fault or VLC's fault. I guess a little bit of both.

Mainly I just use it for editing startup apps, cleaning temp files and deleting game cache files.
With disk cache disabled Mozilla keeps all cache in memory so I don't need to clean those....
I also run it when reinstalling drivers, but that's about it......

Usually, the first AMD driver Windows 7 automatically installs is the WDDM 1.1, either by default or through Windows Update.
When the user updates this driver, Windows 7 keeps a "backup". It "backups" every graphics driver version installed.
This "backups" can be permanently uninstalled with Device Manager by checking the "Delete the driver software" box when the uninstall confirmation dialogue is prompted.
The Catalyst 12.3 is the latest "backup" created by your system.
You can uninstall it using Device Manager.

I'm convinced the ATI driver team does minimal (or no) Crossfire testing on many of their new driver releases. Once again, on this driver set the Overdrive functions do not hold on my Tri-Xfire setup, it "Snaps" back to default settings on the 2nd and 3rd card. This causes major problems for me and I can't use the driver sets because of it.

AMD/ATI 12.6 Driver PRoblems -
06-30-2012, 21:59
Tried updating to 12.6 for the first time on my new HP P6-2133W PC, and it was a pain in the rear, uninstall, driver sweeper, install, test with games, one game Causes TDR's alot, enough so i removed 12.6 and went back to 12.4, but hopefully i won't have to do that on every driver update go back to previous drivers.
haven't used an ATI video card since my Radeon 9600XT, but i guess i'll figure out the driver issues
One game having problems that i reported to both AMD/ATI and the Developer is Second Life Offical Viewer 3.3.3
Though am liking the performance of the new Quad Core System alot

WTF?? YES I read it and YES it was!
Jeez... I don't give a f*ck what you're thinking; the CCC was showing 12.3 because IT WAS SAVED in the Win Registry! Are you thinking CCC guessed the "12.3" string up? NO. It picked the info from the string stored at Win Registry! Always uninstall your old drivers from Device Manger, DELETING the driver and you'll never have that problem again!
PS: Against what many people say, you do not need Driver Sweep nor CCleaner to uninstall ATI/AMD drivers; the Catalyst Install Manager does it just fine! And if you use Device Manager too, you're done!

Catalyst 12.6 beta and 12.7 CCC doesn't save monitor settings when I change something... I click apply... and seem works for about 10 seconds, and after automatically revert last change.
12.6 WHQL fix the problem?
Have you encountered the same issue?

What you said is totally different. Not deleting a registry setting correctly upon uninstalling (and not updating it on installation) has nothing to do with Window's driver backup. If anything, what you said would make sense if it were the old driver showing up, and it wasn't. The driver version was correctly updated.
About not needing Driver Sweeper and similar software... you've been lucky. I've always had to use them with ATi, nVidia, Intel and Realtek. I've almost always run into problems. You should have seen the hell it was to make an AMD Athlon XP 2700+ work ok on an nVidia nForce 2 chipset with an ATi Radeon 9600 videocard and an nVidia Soundforce soundcard.
Trust me. Those driver cleaners ARE necessary, even today.

We need the mobility version. My HD 6620G is not listed in the supported cards.
I managed to get the Mobility version from the AMD site but while trying to install it said the driver version was up to date and gave it as 8.961. Apparently this update does not apply to all cards. I'm going to contact AMD and ask them why my card is not listed when it was in the 12.4 drivers and all the ones prior to that.

whql -

I downloaded the WHQL version of 12.6 for Windows XP...
(for 7970)
and it keeps saying the drivers are not digitally signed.
12.4's are digitally signed.
12.6 whql has problem crashing and it says again its not digitally signed?
whats going down?
Edit:
I do imagine i should say I tried the betas and they were crashy as well... It doesnt say there were any fixes for XP so i dont see them needing to change anything other than a little decimal point. BUT since the WHQL drivers are not signed its probably just the betas repackaged.. So im going back to 12.4

That's simply not true. I still use 11.10 since they work best for me, however, I tried all newer drivers only to find after a clean uninstall that there are still some leftover ati files, mutilating my next install of older drivers.
All sorts of errors like the ccc not starting at all etc.
The most annoying one being a black screen with some coloured lines and dots, and the mouse showing partly. Impossible to browse or see what you're opening.
Takes quite some work to remove them all with the help of ccleaner and atiman.
So in short, there is no simple return to older drivers.
But hey, whatever rocks your boat dude.
