Default How to stop my mouse to wake up my monitors in Win 7 - 06-27-2012, 22:40 | posts: 414

Any way, script or otherwise, to disable my mouse to wake up my monitors? I want to do that via keyboard press, rather than mouse movement. For some reason I swear nothing moves my mouse yet it always wakes up my monitor, and keeps doing this on and off.

Have you checked the settings in your motherboard's bios?

Maybe get a mouse that doesn't pick up movement when there is none? My old comp is on 24/7 in front of my bed set to turn off monitor after 1 min and unless i slam my drink down next to its mouse or bump it when taking off my headphones its monitor never turns on. It has a IME 3.0 on it. My deathadder never picks up movement when there isn't any either but my old copperhead on my laptop does a few times a week.

A practical solution would be to just flip the mouse over.

Go to CP > System > Device manager > Mice and other devices > HID-compliant mouse properties > power management... and uncheck 'allow this device to wake up computer'.

That is already un-checked. The thing is the computer is not sleeping (stand-by). Only the monitors.

Many mice pick up overhead lights, any slight movement makes them think you're moving it.
