Is my OC'd CPU enough? -

Hi guys,
Just curious to know if my CPU at 4.2ghz with hyperthreading is enough to run my GTX 690. Only reason why I ask is when I'm playing BF3 multiplayer I notice the SLI indicator is not always fully utilised, it drops a lot when looking at buildings. However, If I look through a scope or get in a vehicle it jumps up to nearly full. I read somewhere a long time a go that if the SLI indicator is not full it's because it's being limited by other hardware.
Anyway peeps, what's your opinion?

Do you get any stuttering? How heavy is the CPU load when the SLI indicator drops..?

Do you play to watch the sli indicator or because you enjoy killing people? Joking.
You would be slightly CPU limited but your graphics power is massive so that is no surprise. You probably shouldn't upgrade till next gen unless you just want something new!

I was wondering if I had a problem with my system as I tried fraps on BF3 and my frames dropped to 7fps and computer lagged like hell.. Maybe driver related? I really can't see my CPU being a bottleneck to be honest as 4.2Ghz is some serious speed.

What are your temps like both CPU & GPU. Are you positive your 930 overclock is stable? If the CPU is throttling that could explain your severe fps drop.

Monitor CPU use with task manager.
If any core gets around 90% occupied, it can start to stall the game.

I'll monitor it in task manager tomorrow. My temperature for CPU will max around 75c when running OCCT small test over an hour. Seems to be stable as I have done all the OCCT tests and past them all with at least 1 hour on each test. Also not had any computer crashes. My GPU temp gets around 80c max when playing BF3 and that's with +135mhz core, +600mhz memory and +135 power target... Fan on auto.
I'll also monitor my RAM usage too see if I'm running out, although 6GB should be enough for gaming.
I run tuneup utilities... Maybe that's conflicting with my computer, I'll try closing it and testing again too.

4.2 is plenty mate,as Mufflore said monitor your usage but most people wont get any bottlenecks as long as there running 3.8ghz or more, hence 4ghz the sweetspot.
Also is your overclock fully stable(Linx,Occt,Ibt,Prime95) and have your turned options off in the bios like c1e and speedstep which could give you negative throttling?
Why do you think not so many people on here and other forums did not upgrade from the x58 architecture? The question you ask has been asked before and im sure if there was some bottleneck then there would not be so many people sticking with there old hardware(x58) across the whole world wide web.
All i know is i get a constant 60fps with no drops in any game that i play with maximum everything so i dont give a **** as far as im concerned things are working 100%.

Well I looked at my CPU usage and memory usage and both seemed within a good range. I rolled back to 301.42 and graphics seem better but still see a drop in the SLI bar. Also when using fraps to record video it causes major FPS drop

Did you check cpu use as a whole or each core?
