Downloaded and installed this video driver then I tried to play some Max Payne 3... the game will launch but after the Rockstar logo it crashes. In Event Viewer I get some strange messages with "ATI EEU Client event error", the source is "ATIeRecord" and event ID "16388". I have a dual boot win7/win8. In Windows 7 everything works fine.

I don't think this error is crashing Max Payne 3, I tried to play Call of Duty 5 and it works. Event Viewer is still filled with errors about "ATIeRecord", what is this?
It 'important to disable services in windows, the UPNP (UPnP service). This service generates the error and ATIeRecord EEU. I set to manual startup of this service after searches and also the problem with Battlefield3 and 'resolved. I could not get into multiplayer servers Battlefield3. Attention to the problem may also be present in Windows7. I installed Windows 8. We need to highlight the problem but 'to ATI, since' all part of the driver and more 'precisely from cli.exe ... This problem already 'was present when I was 7 and windows Battlefield3 but' I thought it was due to Origin are not.

The only clarification and 'how do I present the problem to AMD, where and' support page.I apologize for my bad English, and that 'only a translation.

I think I fixed the display crashes. I gave the tdr a value of 10, install the new ati catalyst beta posted in the forum (AMD Catalyst 12.x (8.980.0 June 4)) but keep the driver that came with the W8RP. Looks like everything its working.

I have a major problem with my HD 7770 and Windows 8 (RP). When I use this driver, everything keeps freezing constantly, requiring a reboot. I got fed up and connected the screen to my processor's HD 4000, and now everything works perfectly. I also uninstalled the HD7770 from the device manager.

I'd rather like to use my HD7770 though, so any ideas how to get it working again? Any new Win8 beta drivers on the horizon? Any help is appreciated.

Default the same problem!!! - 08-03-2012, 11:54 | posts: 5

I upgraded to windows 8 and got the same problem.
first it required a reinstallation of the card drivers or something like that! which I did through the AMD support link.
then, I keep getting this message every time I restart my PC

I checked the adapter display thingi, and updated the drivers directly from there, and no change.

I did what some suggested by uninstalling the drivers and then restarted and check for updates through windows update, and FOUND NOTHING, no drivers updates from windows update!!

Something else I noticed, with windows 7 I had the option to save power through the graphic switch option , I lost that with windows 8 !! any idea why ?

Anyways, my system infos
Windows 8 X64
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 350 @2.27GHz
RAM : 8.00GB

Graphic card, ATI mobility Radeon HD 5650 ( I saw those details accidentally while updating the driver! ).

So please any help ?

my guess is you have the 12.7 driver installed.

This is older, the driver wont play with this CCC.

check the driver version in the device manager

try running the oringal setup from the preview drivers, uninstall just CCC, reboot, then reinstall using the same setup file.

dont use the control panel.

eldoctor, if you just switched to Windows 8, you could also just install the 9.00 drivers from here

At the moment I am running 8.982 (from here), but these still needed the above CCC.

9.00 you can just install and it should work, then install 12.7 CAP2 (from here).

My installation went as follows, as I had some issues similar to yours.
- Install 9.00 fully
- Install 8.982 driver only via the device manager

There shouldn't really be any need to still run the old drivers from this topic when running one of the above.

Did you try the 9.00 drivers? I noticed a switchable graphics shortcut in W8UI after I installed them

I did just that, and it ruined my desktop!!!!!! I couldn't see any icon on the desktop, and couldn't open any window, I could only see the menu bar! that;s all ... clicked on a number of programs through the menu bar, and no window opened!
I tried to restore windows but didn't have a restore point! with windows 8 I couldn't keep a restore point though I did several manually, yet when I reboot I find nothing!

anyways, did system recovery and went back to out of box recovery, then reinstalled windows 8

I still have the amd graphic card issue ... so any other ideas on how to resolve it?

what are the odds ati will release a win 8 driver for "legacy" products?

I have a hp tablet with Intel GMA 4500 & ATI 4550 switchable graphics.

In win 8 rtm ati is installed as wddm with a yellow exclamation mark. I can install the old original hp driver with win 7 compatibility and it switches to intel on battery. With win 7 it was just installing 12.6 legcy over those but with win 8 this does not work.

Installing with win 7 compatitility the installer hangs. Using device manager to install-> have disk i manage to see that it has installed properly just before the entire screen turns black\grey.

those laptops with switchable graphics and hd4000 card are not that old and outdated.
