Linux on a G4 iMac?

Hey Gurus

I while ago I was gifted a several-year-old G4 POWERPC iMac by one of my friends in IT at work, but the thing's just been sat on my desk gathering dust because I can't stand macOS.

I figured it must be possible to install Linux on there, I've used Ubuntu in the past (10.5 properly), but I cannae stand the new GUI, so are there any other Windows-ish looking distro's out there that will run on PPC architecture/easy to install etc. etc.?

If I can't find a use for it it'll probably end up on eBay.

There's Arch Linux PPC and MintPPC.

Love mint for pc, not sure how it works out for ppc. Pleasantly surprised how far linux has come over last few years.

Mint is, personally, the logical departure from Ubuntu, even if Mint is based on Ubuntu.
MATE and Cinnamon are kinda like a panacea for Unity.
They're even going to sell Mint boxes now, as in portable PCs preloaded with Mint.

That's pretty cool. I tried Ubuntu 11/12 and the interface is horrid (similar to mac, I HATE macs for their OS, nice machines otherwise, if 3x the price they should be). Mint it would seem is the way forward for my mac...
