So I like to convert mkv files with embedded subtitles and the only way I can convert them into mp4 while retaining the subtitles and integrating it to the mp4 is by using Any Video Converter. The problem is it barely utilizes my 2600k's 8 threads, only 4 threads and barely 20 percent of CPU usage. Any suggestions for an alternative that converts videos but still retains the subtitles?

hmm, i think these here also can handle Subs...

1. Handbrake
2. XMediaRecode
3. VidCoder

These are the ones i use mostly..They are all free and very very good...
ALso they use all my 4 cores up to 99%..

They should work with subtitles if u set it up right..

hope that helps..Greetz BetA

Edit.

u also can take a look here, one of the best sites, when it comes to encoding, decoding and converting...

Heh...most devs on filters, splitters, players, encoders and whatnots are probably from Doom9's forum.

thanks guys, i'll test them out tomorrow. I've tried Handbrake before and it was insanely fast for converting, but I was too confused on configuring it that I gave up after a while. Though I don't see a reason not to try again.
