Computer Specs: Mac OS 10.6.8, 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4gb ddr3 ram iMac
Problem: I have a Epson Stylus Pro R2880 installed on my mac. Now when I try and print on matte paper (I installed the printer with photo black ink first) I obviously have to switch out the photo black ink and put in the matte black ink. Due to driver issues on epson's end, I have to reinstall the printer every time I switch between photo black ink and matte black ink.
Now normally this is not a problem on a single client computer however, I am an employee at a college for photography and I'm trying to make it so students do not have to install and reinstall the printer because that requires administrator access.
What I'm trying to do essentially is, the printer has TWO USB ports on the back and I'm trying to plug them in and install them as two separate printers however the computer still recognizes them as one printer.
The ancestor to this printer is the Epson Stylus Pro 2400 which had a usb port and a firewire port so that tricked worked for whatever reason so we wouldn't have to reinstall printer again. That is not the case with the R2880 so I was wondering if there is any possible way to make it so I can trick the computer into thinking I have to completely different plugged into the computer but obviously it's only one in reality.
My boss really wants me to try and get this to work however if there's no other way then we're going to attempts to modify the student account to allow them to be able to reinstall the printer.
Thanks in advanced, I've been working at this for about 8 hours now.
