Agreed, with BF2 you actually felt you were there, BF3 lost that, coupled with the absolutely stupid client side hit detection completely destroys the game for me. Also dont get me started on the unlocks, basic things like Chaff/flares being missing from the choppers/planes(ok the made flares default in a patch later ).

I do think i could get into BF3 like i did BF2 but only when most of the CoD guys have left it

I have a few 1000 hours on BF2, BF3 let me down bigtime, theres next to no teamplay incentive.

i thought 64 bit could allow more data to be processed at a time? i remember seeing benchmarks of great improvements.

Just asking.
I played 1942, Vietnam, BF2, BC2 and BF3. If the point you are making is that BF3 is more like BC2 than BF2 then yes you are right, however I still play and enjoy it. No other current multiplayer fps comes close to creating the intensity of experience that BF3 does.

coming from BF2 i found BC2 to be more enjoyable than BF3, mainly because the shooting seemed more precise, i.e. no lag

BF4 will require a 64bit OS, got one of those so no biggy but for EA to get me to pay for another BF game they gonna need the worlds biggest crowbar. I got 3 years out of BF2 and at least a year and a half out of BFBC2. BF3 got a grand total of 4 months and I really have no desire to go back.

I am ADDICTED to BF3. Played all Battlefields, all were fun.

Why are people complaining about it not being like the other ones?

I found BC2 and BF3 fun for a while, then they both got boring. Mainly because they're the same game, and that game is not as good as 1942, or BF2.

Yeah I think the unlocks are what I hate the most about BF3, with client side hit detection not far behind. Silly idea that was...

And they removed Commander, another silly idea imho.

Agree,i know many experienced players who play BC2 after abandoning BF3,on many a forum people are going back to BC2,even though its not a patch on what BF2 was its far superior to BF3 in gameplay.

Red Orchestra 2 pisses all over BF3 also.

BF3 being a good or bad game aside, 64 bit should be the norm, it's 2012 - get with it people.

Why are people complaining about it not being like the other ones?
because it's not like the other ones. Simples!

Or to put it another way,

- Worse hit detection than both of the other games, a miracle given that BF2 has situations where you could stand point blank, shoot someone and still not hit them.

- No class definition, a metric butt load of addons, unlocks and stuff yet it is possible to select any class with pretty much any weapon setup and still do well. Snipers in the previous game were snipers, anti tank were anti tank, medics were medics. In BF3 it doesn't matter what you go, really!

- Worse cheating, BF2 in the time I played I encountered 1 aimbotter, that's right 1 confirmed aimbotter. Saw a few commander exploiters. BC2 had quite a few aimbotters but they were manageable. BF3 has guys using knives and ammo packs to kill folk in tanks... seriously?

- Defined battle lines, in BF2 air support and ground support felt like they worked together. I loved seeing flags being captured only to blast out of the air vulcan canon blazing, drop a bomb and then blast back in to the clouds. Or watching my teams attack chopper hold down a spawn point. In BF3 the air war seems to purely between the aircraft with the pilot only having anything to do with what is going on on the ground when someone takes a pot shot at them with a Stinger.

- Movement, player engagement is totally yawnsome. Having to jump just to get over kerbs and debris is a joke, in past BF games you could call it bunny hopping in BF3 it's just a player trying to get from one side of the road to the other and WTF is with the jump animations that will only work if you press the button at exactly the right time and in exactly the right place and if you are so much as a cm or a second out it just leaves you standing there jumping up and down?

The big issue, the really big issue with BF3 is that it doesn't do anything radically new or different from the previous BF games to make up for the massive amount of fail that has been introduced by elements such as client side hit detection rather than the old server side system.

Feel sorry for you guys then, missing out on the actual game if you guys are really experiencing ALL that.

Not seen one hacker, never above 40 ping, never had an issue with classes as snipers can only snipe, assault can only heal, support can only support with ammo, only engis have rockets and real tank killing ability so I see the class definitions. Client side detection? more like L2Shoot in all situations

The only problem I have with the game is that my mates don't play all the time so when I play by myself it's not as epic

There are plenty of hackers in the game. I have lost count how many times I have been sniped (one shotted) while driving a tank from someone half a map away. It gets frustrating after a while.

Surely it's irrelevant whether you liked BF3 or not, that is nothing more than personal preference, especially when this is a thread about tech in the engine that will be used in the next game.

Yes but because alot of people were disappointed with BF3 then they wont go out and buy the new BF game with the new so called tech engine.

Graphics are second place and gameplay is KING which is not the case with BF3.

Well I have no interest in playing FPS’s in MP unless it is over LAN with a bunch of people I actually know, so I got bored with MP BF3 after 30mins and went straight to the SP and that ended up being the worst SP FPS I played last year, but I’m still interested in the fact the next game is going to be 64bit only.

Probably because I see this as a tech forum first, and a gaming one second.

Then you're lucky if you have never seen one hacker before I stopped playing you would see them every day and just to confirm my statement about no defined role the best anti tank class is actually assault with C4.

Well let's be honest saying the next game is 64bit doesn't exactly leave a great deal to talk about now does it? So as with most stuff the only thing we have to draw comparison from is what the previous game was like and then apply the tiny bit of info we have about the next game to that and then create some posts from there.

The issue being that the general feeling towards BF3 is coming out more strongly than the tiny bit of theorising we can do about the next BF game being 64bit.

True, after about a page of comments we would of all run out of things to say.

Think I’m getting old though, as reading about tech, be it hardware or software just interests me more the games themselves, which is why I tend to stick to threads like this rather than the main ones about the actual game.
