Thumbs up Give Waterfox 13.0 a whirl - 05-29-2012, 11:18 | posts: 3,364

From the official Waterfox support thread.
http://www.overclock.net/t/975626/wa...ox-64-bit/2330

Latest build : http://www.mediafire.com/?rglize8pnmb06yd
Intel C++ Runtime : http://registrationcenter.intel.com/...st_intel64.exe

The download link is from Alex himself, and the Intel C++ runtime is needed if you haven't installed one; chances are, most people haven't.
To 'install' this Waterfox, just extract it somewhere and run it.

Smooth scroll is enabled by default (Options -> Advanced -> General).
If you're a multi-tab user like me who likes them to load the pages automatically when starting Waterfox, disable Don't load tabs until selected in Options -> General.
Keep in mind that that behavior will also be a default setting in Firefox 13.0.

What's new in Waterfox 13.0 would be :
  • Google's tcmalloc
  • Intel's LibM
  • SSE3 support for all processors, SSSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2 and AVX for processors that support it.
More info on those here.

Memory usage-wise, it's around 570MB for 33 tabs open, with plugin-container.exe at around 75MB.

Enjoy a smoother Waterfox!
...well, YMMV.

Is there a way to reproduce that?
I haven't experienced that bug, but then again I don't scour around YouTube that much to notice it.

Dunno about previous versions of Waterfox, but it seemed to work normally when I tested it.
Skipping forward, pause, play, skipping back, forward again, pause, and play again behaved normally.

And yes, I do enable HTML5 on YouTube, in case you're wondering. =b

No, it's just a test build Alex uploaded for anyone who wants to test it.
You just simply extract it somewhere and run it (firefox.exe).
Just be sure to have that Intel C++ Runtime installed first.

A proper Waterfox 13.0 build with an installer should be out whenever Firefox 13.0 is out.
Maybe next week; not so sure, though.

Nope.

Back then there was still Swiftfox in regards of optimized Firefox build in Linux, but I think that project has been stalled/dead for quite some time.

Can't believe I'm late at this.

And, yeesh, he included all those .dll files from Intel's C++ Runtime!
Talk about a bloated Waterfox installer.
