My xfi gamer doesnt want to work again :( -

This sound card, since i have it, randomly time to time keeps disappearing from my hardware list, so it doesnt work. After some random reboot it works again. My mobo has only 1 pci slot. Or i dont have any other sound card to try it.
Currently im using my pc as htpc , again, just bought a smal case for my hardware. And im now using onboard sound card which gives me a good 5.1.
It is very clear that onboard sound is weak next to my xfi gamer.
Ayway, all i want to ask that,
1- can i plug pci sound card to pcix slot.?
2- only soound cards i can buy here r here
http://www.vatanbilgisayar.com/OEM%2...AR&br=CREATIVE
Im thinking usb based creative xfi Surround 5.1. Is it worse than my xfi gamer?
I use logitec 5000 speakers which r awesome to me.
Edit: lol just reascsome comments a Turkish shopping site. A guy says there is only 1 mode as entertainment. No game mode is available he says. He adds that it cant reach the qualty of a pci-e sound card.

Try to reseat the soundcard. If it still give issues, try and test it in another system. Aside from that it might be time to move to something a bit newer.

Have you tried Daniel K's drivers? I wouldn't call them modded just "fixed" I have used them on my Fatality forever.
If use the SPDIF your speakers will handle all the sound processing using it's own DSP. Your results may vary.

thank u man..yeah i used those drivers and here i am..broken.
anyway, can u answer my new question pls. how SPDIF optic cable connected speakers will work with my PC...5+1?
EDIT:
i started to use optic cable with realtek onboard.
now as default format i chose 16bit 48000HZ. and on my Logitec Z906 BF3 shows as 2.1
i changed DEFAULT FORMAT to 5.1 Dolby Digital LIVE. and started bf3..sounds r superb experimental. better than my X.FIGamer 5.1 setup.. WHY?
DD LIVBE 5.1 will make any game 5.1? BF3 already DD LIVE ? i need explanation pls

Well DD Live is "fake surround" like Pro Logic. Not true 5.1 Multi Channel like when you had it hooked up analog to your sound card.

I would go for a full uninstall of the X-Fi drivers, use a driver cleaner(I use Drivercleaner.NET so I can't recommend one)
Start fresh with the Daniel K's

I did that, i mean not with daneil k drivers but official drivers. And i used driver cleaner too.
By the way, With onboard sound, bf3 does the same thing. And i figured that it only happens with in vehicle scenes. And i see that on logitec z906has visual icon screens on its control Panel. When my issue with bf3 happens, the screens turnoff. So its basicaly loose of sound signal. With analog or optic, with xfi or oboard sound, bf3 vehicle scenes have that issue. Dman.

Nope. That is Incorrrect. Dolby Digital Live is an Encoder and nothing else.
Without DDL or DTS-C you will only get 2.0 stereo out of S/Pdif. Those encoders take the surround sound stream and compress and encode it to either Dolby Digital or DTS for decoding by your receiver or speaker systems. DDL or the DTS-C encoders have no upmixing they are NOT "fake" surround. They are just encoders but they produce a lossy results as the bandwidth on S/Pdif is limited to to gte the full 5.1 surround signal compressed you lose some of the orginal signal.
Hope that helps.

DDlL is surely upmixing 2.0 to simulated 5.1?
Now that said I use DDL on the SPDIF out of my Laptop(Optical) to my receiver to run Spotify thru it. The receiver shows up as Dolby Digital and shows 5.1 channels it is still only playing in Stereo.

No, there is NO upmixing. Whatever is sent, either 2.0 or 5.1 gets encoded to 5.1 but that is not upmxing. If you send it 2.0 stereo, you get 5.1 but it only plays stereo signal with the other channels dead.
You could send it a 4.0 signal and it would show on the system as 5.1 but only 4.0 channels would play because there is no upmixing.
Upmix is taking 2.0 and upmixng it to come from ALL speakers in 5.1.
See the difference? DDL is just an encoder nothing else.
DDL is a realtime surround sound encoder. It does not simulate 5.1.
Usually you get Prologic IIx in the bundle also, that is an upmixer, it will take 2.0 and mirror and/or expand to 5.1 and then you use the DDL encoder to send it out through S/Pdif to the Receiver or speakers for decoding.
Make sense?
