Half-Life Black Mesa Screens -
05-12-2012, 15:31
| posts: 5,701 | Location: Dubai, UAE / London, UK
Unfortunately Black Mesa may never arrive since there has not been a release date and it may be another Duke Nukem Forever.
However, on youtube I managed to find a high definition graphic mod for Half-Life which is the nearest thing to Black Mesa and in my opinion almost as good as Half Life 2.
It's around 700mb and when extracted comes to around 2gb. All textures have been replaced. The enhancement includes enb series, similar to the one used in GTA IV. It makes a huge improvement to the game and it looks like a whole new engine.
I've taken some screenshots to show you the result should you not want to waste your time downloading the file.
Installation is easy since all you have to do is copy everything in the hl1 folder into your existing directory overwriting existing files.
Secondly you will need to copy the enb series into your Half-Life source engine folder. Once this has been done you simply run the Half-Life source exe file to load up the game. Enjoy!

Latest Patch - http://minus.com/mbbMxrmm63/
PS. The download speed may be slightly slow since I got between 40-100kb/s download speed so be patient.
Last but least I'd like to say I've tried several different mods & graphic enhancements/hd packs for Half-Life but the one above is the best and nearest one to Black Mesa I've tried.
Last but least a great thanks to to the guy who made this mod.
Here are some screens:

I'm unsure about retail however it works 100% perfect with the steam version.
I literally replayed the entire game from start to finish as I fell in love with the mod.
I suggest that any hardcore fan of Half-Life should give this a try since it's exactly the same as the original from 1998 only graphically far better...

Maybe so but far better than the original which was blurry & lacked detail.
This mod is probably the best there is at the moment until Black Mesa is released, that's IF it ever comes out...

In correlation to the pic of the cat, I will say. A big too BMS for dicking us around, and a very big thank you to the developer of this mod.
Edit: Just a thought here, but if anyone wants to get a little more, bloom, hdr, etc, use the "inject Fxaa tool."

This is a really dumb question, but I followed the installation instructions and I can't get it to work, even Steam won't pick it up. Thoughts?

Gun models look great, but it messes up the colors and art of the game imo.
I'm using streloks improvements packs which keeps the original feel of the game

Thing is I think you need to download each pack seperately and install them in the right order.. might be pretty complicated.
I could upload my whole mod folder instead, but it's on my other PC which doesn't have a graphics card. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow

This mod has no comparison to BM in my opinion. This is just a hi-def pack. Whereas BM is 99% made from the ground up (including voice acting, code, scrpting, animations, music, etc, etc, etc). It's going to come out, sooner or later, have some faith.
I've tried countless HL: S and HL "HD" mods and this looks like a mixture of good and bad. Some of the environment textures look way too noisy and cartoony. The weapon models aren't too bad, but I have seen better. I like some of the ENB effects going on there, may give that a go.

Thanks for the link. As you said there are quite a few. I may be patient & wait for you to upload your mod folder, if you can that is.
