These cards were great in there day and there great to collect(i still have a Voodoo 2,the first ever SLI card that i used) but using them as a dedicated gaming machine is too much effort, especially as *Glide wrapper* achieves exactly the same result without all the hardware.

Bad news, Voodoo 5 6000 can't run game test 4 in 3DMark 2001SE - Nature because it has lack of pixel and vertex shader hardware.
I never had any 3DFX card. but my nv card works 3DFX due to glide emulator but this sw has some limitations and compatible issue.

Extremely impressive for a card that is 12 years old I give you props. I think Nvidia would do well to do a tribute to 3DFX by making a lineup with todays gpu but with full glide support and an updated glide sdk and named 3DFX. But that is probably wishfull thinking.

NP ! I remember the 3DFX days... so.. nostalgic ! i had a K6 II back then ^^
I'd wish they were still here, innovating and making great cards as they used to and giving us more options to choose from ! this ati vs nvidia and amd vs intel discussions are making me mad ! everyone fighting each other for the sake of fanboyism... if we had more options to choose from, we would share more and fight less !
don't you agree?

^ Man, I couldn't agree more. With 3dfx still in the mix, we'd all have a wide array of competitive cards to choose from and a much newer version of the Glide API available. It would be neat to see how games today would make use of a new and greatly improved Glide, instead of the same old same old.

Ah! 3DFX, my first silicone based chip to overclock.
I remember this website I found that sold an OC kit for 15.00 bones for the V3 5000.
If I remember correctly? The kit had a good fan, mounting hardware, instructions and a tweaked drive CD.
There needs to be a Hall of Voodoo to remember the beginnings.
