I have been running my PC now for over a year with no real problems, until the last few weeks. I have a hard crash ( freeze with buzz sound) and must reboot. This only happens during games ( BF3 etc). It didn't do this until after I got my new msi 7870 a few weeks ago. So I did a quick PSU calculator on what my hardware is, and is says min 650 watts.

The specs
i7-975 4.2
sabertooth x58 motherboard
msi 7870 stock clocks
6gb crucal ballistics ddr3 tri channel ram at 18xxmhz 1.4volts
1>spinpoint F3 HD
1>CD/DVD RW
sound blaster titanium sound card
liguid cooling H50
2>200mm fans w/led
1>140mm w/led
5>120mm w/led
2>12in case lights
and usaly a game pad or flightstick
other lights for power,etc.

All this on a Antec 650 watt PSU. What are the signs of a to small of a PSU?

try taking your OC off and see if it still has problems. PSUs degrade over time so depending on how old that antec is it might be 500watts now

Yeah I would also suggest running your CPU at stock speed...

Ok I reinstalled drivers, set everything to default clocks/settings (cpu, gpu, ram ect). Still have crash after about 15min of gamming. The PSU is about 14 months old. Can anyone think of anything else? I reinstalled the OS right after getting the new 7870. I still have my 470 and will try it tommorow. Just off hand anyone ever did a RMA with MSI?

Update here. I took the 7870 out and put the original 470 back in. Then put the 7870 in another pc to see what happens. Either one crashed. The other PC is also a x58 based system. Any ideals?

After days of asking questions and trying new things it seems to be either the driver (12.4) or (msi afterburner). I'm still testing, but I had remembered the crashes with both msi AB and trixx. Don't know why as all I used those utility's for was to setup a custom fan profile and no OC.
