Asus UEFI bios safe to use? 3770 non K @ 4.2ghz -

I have a z77 sabertooth + 3770 [non K]. Didn't plan to overclock, but I saw the options: Power saving, normal and asus optimal. So I thought I could check it out for fun.
After clicking asus optimal, my cpu speed could go up to 4.2ghz [vcore 1.18, 41 x 103] when loading.
are these settings safe? is it safe for a non k version?
Using stock heatsink temporarily. The temps for idle are 45c~48c, load can reach till 95c. [The stock heatsink is really thin and small only use it temporarily]

I wouldn't overclock at all with the stock cooler.

Its never a good idea to overclock with the stock cooler. Especially with those Ivybridge CPU's.

I don't really plan to overclock. Just that I saw this function and was wondering if its even safe to use at all since I heard 3770 [non K] can't overclock. If this feature works I might use it after i change my heatsink.
I am using stock heatsink now cause my third party cooler hasn't arrived yet.

Even the non K versions can be overclocked by raising the baseclock and the turbo multiplier but results will be lower than what's possible with unlocked cpus.

Just put on a better air cooled heatsink like I did... -

- four heat piped Kepler Pro (Spire), and you will be running your CPU at 4.2GHz turbo without ANY problem (the full load temperature will drop by more than 10*C, possibly 15*C).
Easy mounting, efficient and inexpensive...

95c load? Cut 20c off and it might be safe. I still wouldn't touch the bclk tho.

+1 too much is tied to the baseclock. I never touch it unless benchmarking and then only to 102

See if you can do that speed with 1-1.05v or so, should really lower temps a lot if you can.
Edit: Big drop in temp with lower voltage reported here http://www.anandtech.com/show/5763/u...-on-ivy-bridge
