Default Best Media Tagger Apps? - 04-28-2012, 17:49 | posts: 16,085 | Location: Guru3D Audio Lab

Hey guys, I know many here have very large collections of media.
I am trying to figure out what is the best full feature media tagger is.
I know there are many out there but I would like to find apps that find the most extensive information on your media.

So, what apps are you guys using to fill in your tags?

If this thread can help those new to music collecting find some apps that give them some great features, it is all good.

Musicbee has it built in, I switched from winamp and never looked back. It tags from multiple different sources and lets you pick and choose what fields you want to update from the database.

Other ones are Tag&rename and mediamonkey. I'm sure you know about those though - tag&rename is alright, and mediamonkey to me is just a cluster****.

I use Mp3tag ( http://www.mp3tag.de/en/). Really handy and has great support for all kinds of formats.

This one works for me: MusicBrainz Picard

I think there's a foobar plugin that uses this for tagging your files, but it only uses a single source for the database, AFAIK.

I use WinAmp, and have been using it for decades. Not sure if it's the best app to add tags, but I have been adding tags to my collection over time.

I have used many of the mentioned apps but what I am looking for is an app that does extended tag information. Those type of applications seem hard to find.

Mp3tag does that just fine in my opinion.

I figured I might just use MP3tag but I m probably going to have to add some customs scripting to get all the extended information I am looking for.
I am actually on the MP3tag site looking over scripting options.

@Anarion, Are you using custom scripts or are you just using the stock application?
I have been putting in some time figuring out scripting to help get what I am after.
It figures, I have been using Mp3Tag for a long time but I figured it was limited in some respects. Upon further research I find that this app can do exactly what i want with a bit of elbow grease!
Cool.

Cool.
I don't use scripting/macros (actions) since I haven't needed to do so yet. To be honest, I didn't quite know how powerful this actually is. I only recently find out about macros other stuff. In any case, it is really handy tool.

I wrote some custom scripts and added a few tag info fields to show all the information downloaded from Discogs. Excellent site for such tasks.

This way when I load in new tracks a few clicks and the tracks are all formatted the way I want with all the info I am interested in.

Great application, very powerful.
