Default WD 500GB External making weird noises. - 04-29-2012, 20:44 | posts: 758 | Location: United Kingdom

As the title states. I have a WD 500GB hard drive which seems to make weird noises upon connection to my computer. A google search showed that it could be a lack of power to the drive. However this cannot be true.

Upon connection the sound is a little like a power up sound from those old paradox trainers that you get for games and when you transfer data across to the HDD it sounds like an old 54kps modem connecting to the internet on windows 95. Also it works fine on my laptop and other devices.

I'm stumped... Help please!
