The reason we cannot continue with the development of Stalker 2 is we and our new investors we unable to come to an agreement with the IP rights onwer. The entire team that was working on Stalker is now working on a new project called Survarium. We are so grateful for the support over the years and despite our best efforts we have to move on from Stalker which is as hard for us as it is for you. However, we feel that our new studio and project will be something unique and fill the void left by Stalker as well as add a lot more! -Your Stalker Team-

In any case, I don't mind leaving out S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series as long as this new project is just as good, if not great.

If they had the funding to buy the IP back then they wouldn't have any investor problems.

Yeah, such a shame, but while it had many fans, it did have a fair amount of haters too, and unfortunately i just don't think slower paced SP FPS make that much money anymore.
The Metro2033 dev's would be the logical successors, but would THQ take it on, and 4A Games probably won't have the time to do it anyway.
Least we got the older games, and combined they have more gameplay value than every other SP FPS over the last several years put together.

Yes, and it doesn't have to be a "STALKER" IP game, it can be called something else, but play and look a lot like stalker.
If fact it seems like that is what the stalker team is doing anyway.
But if any fans want to get together and make a spiritual successor to stalker count me in! I am programmer.

Some big name publisher will make a sequal and say its better than the original. They however will completely demolish everything that was awesome about stalker, if fact I believe if the publisher does make a new stalker it will become far more like Call of Duty and far less stalker.

Survarium is a free2play MMOFPS game set in the near future. The game focuses on a mass- scale ecological catastrophe on Earth, the reasons behind vaguely known.
Impassable woods advance onto cities from every side, maddened animals and birds attack industrial complexes, military structures, warehouses and power plants. Towns are cut off from each other, there are no water supplies, no electricity, gas, communication is lost. Countries collapse, anarchy spreads throughout the world. Now force dictates who to survive. In the meantime, new species of greenery and animals purposely destroy human civilization. Strange plants and mushrooms grow through concrete and steel. Scientists all over the world haplessly try to cope with the anomaly sprawling across the Earth with terrifying speed.
"The concept of Survarium is a next evolution step for the idea of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. we’ve been working on for the last ten years. – said Project Lead Ruslan Didenko. – Survarium will go way further forcing mankind to fight for survival not only within the closed area of Chernobyl zone, but also far beyond."
"Technology versus nature, rational versus mystical. Such a confrontation enables us to take a new look at the current happenings in our world, - said Aleksey Sytianov, Lead Game Designer of the project. – Survarium will offer players an atmospheric world of civilization crash, filled with factions and loners, stalkers and hunters surviving in a wild anomalous environment."
The game is developed on a new proprietary Vostok Engine technology and is planned for release on PC at the end of 2013.
