Default 1800 Air for 2300 M18x? - 03-21-2012, 03:41 | posts: 1,544 | Location: USA

I got 2011 macbook air with core i7, 4gb, and 256gb ssd. I posted it on craiglist for sale and this guy called me about trading it for his mx18 with 8gb, two HDs(256Gb and 500GB), core i7 2.0 GHz, and dual 560 I believe. I actually met the person and he agreed to trade it in after he gets all his files backed up to his desktop.

So my question is: Is it worth giving up on lightness and slimness for buffed up specs and heavy weight?

Yes, absolutely. Just don't expect to be able to sit it on your chest for any long period of time.

Well, I would do it. The MX18 is an awesome "lap"-top (it's really heavy), it's powerful, well made and very cool (temps). It depends really if you want a portable small laptop (mb air) or a big workstation...

pd: the i7 of your apple has nothing in common with the mx18's one

Yeah I just made the trade and I am not regretting it at all lol..

I never carried my mb air with me because I had ipad 2 and now the new ipad so now I can actually use my latop for something(gaming -- wow, swtor, gw2 etc)

Edit: The dude who I made a trade with was a programmer and wanted to study OSX and start making apps for it. Idk, that was sort of interesting.

You got the best deal on that trade for sure ! However, curious as to why he just didn't put osx on that laptop and duel boot it. Surely if he can program he would know how to do such a simple install of another os.

He had many reasons for a macbook but that was one of them. He never owned one was another one and then tired of carrying an 18inch laptop everywhere lol This laptop is awesome.
