It can still be used for monitoring purposes, didn't find any good replacement for it so far.

Yup, it's still the best.
I've updated the RTSS component of RivaTuner with that of Afterburner's (currently v4.3.1). It's just a simple copy/paste to overwrite those files. The original tray icon changes but I fixed that with RTSS.ico

Yep it's really sad on one side im happy for unwinder finally have so much commercial support in the back and actually making money on the other side there is still some stuff in Rivatuner that could be improved especially a GUI overhaul with a Sensor Display Redesign (a huge Dashboard Mode) though still today nothing comes close to Rivatuner when Sensoring things Realtime as a Graph only some Dev stuff from companies like Intel and such but 3rd party wise nothing else.
And pairing this with a event system would make it even crazier with all the Sensoring capabilities in todays Hardware

MSI Afterburner is capable of monitoring every sensor on MSI branded graphics cards and most reference cards.

Went to use the G19 UPnP NetSpeed Applet now for the monitoring with my G19.
284KB file with a very low memory footprint, really hard to beat if realtime monitoring via a G19 is all you need.
