Upgrade from 11.12, which was the last OpenCL driver, on my 5850 and have had no issues. 12.1, 12.2, and 12.3 all glitched textures in Skyrim for me, these 12.4 drivers do not. Solid drivers on a 5850 in my experience.

You don't need to do anything other than install the drivers since the code for it is built in. As long as your card has DirectCompute support, you'll get the new MLAA algorithm.

It would make no sense for AMD to have two different MLAA algorithms in the driver, so any supported card should get 2.0.
I believe adaptive AA on DX10/11 is limited to 7xxx as of now, but that should eventually be pushed down to 6xxx and 5xxx series. Seeing as how Nvidia is pushing all their new features(adaptive v-sync) to all cards it would make AMD look bad to not do the same.

Older cards and 12.4's -
04-17-2012, 03:27
Just wondering if anyone with the older cards, 57-58-59 series cards
have tried the latest 12.4 drivers and how do they work.
Had to roll back to the 11.8 drivers to cure a problem as to the drivers dropping out from time to time and shutdowns.
No problems with the 11.8,s and seems like the 12 series and the coding are messing up my cards.
Run CF 5770,s for another couple weeks until the new cards get sorted out
as to pricing and features.
Then back to a single Big card for awhile.

I thought 11.11c were the best drivers, yet* for non 7xxx series cards.

Same CF setup here (though not nearly as OC'ed as yours) and 12.4 run almost perfectly for me.
I say (write) almost because I had to uninstall/clear/reinstall them 4 days ago, after 15 days of BF3 testing them (for 4-7h/day), when for no good reason they were constantly giving BSOD in 3d mode.
After that, I BF3 tested them again, without any problems.

Never tried the 11.11c drivers as from 11.8 went straight to the 12.1,s.
Was going to go to the 680 4gig card shortly but not with the 256 bit bus.
May wait for a little while now and wait for these cards to get sorted out
in the Non-Ref area.
5770's still kick A--, Just not at the highest setting and a very few
games that don't work with CF.

Any thoughts on this matter guys?? I have an ATI 5870m. When I had these drivers installed a AMD black box would install something on every startup. Due to the positive reviews i've seen about these drivers I'd really like to jump on board, but I would love to hear a fix for this problem first. -Thanks

I did have that cmd with some other beta-driver, but I don´t have it anymore... I didn´t however get any problems with those beta-drivers that gives that cmd, so I quess you are fine with it and don´t worry...
And I liked to get new drivers too

A new embedded driver was released a few days ago:
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/embedded...EDG_Direct.zip
Although it seemingly appears the same as the driver this thread if about... (going by the date and the 8.96).

Perhaps AMD has taken one week extra and somehow unlocked 100% better performance in all games on all their Radeon HD series!

I'm using the 12.4 betas with a CF 5850 setup. I really like them. If you want to get rid of the slow CCC startup, just install the 12.1s and then the 12.4s right over them.

I'm in no serious rush for new drivers I guess. The 12.4 beta's work great. I just want AMD to improve even more on the next set. So if they take their time and get it done that's fine with me.

same CF setup as yours so far I've found them stable and faster than 12.1's I play alot of skyrim and with these drivers I have been able to really crank up the settings to ultra or highest without loss of FPS indoors or out at 1920x1080 and MLAA 2.0 works great too
