Get whatever is cheapest in your country, performance wise the two are very similar, and for 90% of games your unlikely to even notice the difference when playing.
Either that or pick the one which runs the games, or game engines you like and use now and in the future.
Not sure what the PhysX thing above is all about though, enabling PhysX would make the 680 slower, not faster.

Not trolling at all here, but I recommend switching to the green team guys... I had two 6970's before and I LOVE my 680... FPS might not be as high, but smoothness and driver support is there for sure which outweighs the former...

Funny this, theres at least 2 threads in the first couple of pages in Nvidia section about people with 'jittery' gameplay with a 680.
Guess it all depends on your system/settings.
Also its well known that multi-gpu setups can suffer from microstutter or feel laggy if you dont set them up properly (eg set up a combination of frame limiter/vsync/triplebuffering/renderahead)
- its just the same for nVidia multi gpu setups.
So id say your post is bulls***

HI Ppls, been an avid reader for a while now. thought it was about time I signed up here.
Just got my PC watercooling all sorted and want to get my 7970 O/Clocked.
I have been trying stock volts within CCC, currently cant get it to overclock much at all really.
I managed 1000mhz on the core, and have been using the OCCT GPU test. testing for 1hr.
Ill put some more details up tonight when I get hime. Hopeing I can get some more out, cause I shelled out a fair whack of cash for my new loop
EDIT: After some more messing around this afternoon. I find that I can get 1100mhz @ 1.175v to run for an hour on the OCCT GPU test. If I try 1125 the card drops clocks as it looks like the power control limiting is coming into play, even though I have pushed it up 20% (using MSI Afterburner with config tweaks to overclock)
Here is my new build (hope im allowed to link other forums) http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...1019714&page=3
I have more than enough cooling, current temp is 48 deg MAX on the test @ 1100mhz.
Does the Afterburner power control slider work?
2nd EDIT - I forced it on in CCC first then started Afterburner, no throttleing. Just drivers stopping and hard locks now.

ppl wondering why amd with more transistors might be slower is cause it's way way way faster in gpgpu things.
http://muropaketti.com/artikkelit/na...md-vs-nvidia,2
It's in finnish but you get the point ^^
tho the difference between 680 and 7970 is nothing in terms of speed in games.

Yeah, it's faster, but I'm playing in games, bro. Not in benchs.
That's why I'll get 3770K instead of 3930, it's useless in games, 2 extra cores and 4 threads are usefuul just for 3Dmark
More VRAM will be more usefull

well if someone needs gpgpu for stuff 7970 is the best card for that. if they implement heavy gpgpu in some games 7970 will just dominate to no end

Depends on games/applications, i think most of the newer games will favour GTX680 in terms of 3D performance but in Unigine Heaven 3.0 for example, OC'ed HD7970 is faster than OC'ed GTX680..

Well i actually think out of dx11 games only one in which 680 wins around the same clocks is bf3 if i remember anything at all other are either around the same or for 7970. but then again in older titles like mw2, far cry 2 680 easy win tho both reach 100 fps.

I think he's point is to show you where the Billions of transistor are.. Thoses are Computing benchmarks... Is it important for gaming ? Not really... Well just put the use in computing for CIV5 and you see it can, even if offcourse, yet, computing is not really used in games.
Not really important, but this is just a shame to see the 680 beated in nearly all test by the 580...
Note for graphics purpose... all tests give pretty the similar result, clock to clock, the 680 and 7970 are completely neck to neck ( 1050mhz vs 1053-1110mhz turbo 680 ), the 7970 win some, the 680 win some ( the classic: Batman AC, BF3 if use AA ( 3-4fps depending the place used ).. most games it is equal.
Thats with low OC, but it seems for now, the 7970 scale a little bit better over 1100mhz with overclocking.
Now, i will really like if AMD can sort of the same adaptative v-sync.. really good feature specially for low end and midrange card.
Anyway, got my second card back from RMA ... 69% Asic, 1175mv.

My experience is: I switch from a GTX295, yea I know it's about damn time I update my card. And seriously, I've bought two of'em at $600 US like 3 weeks before the GTX680 lauch which is better and cheaper by $100 US, it pisted me off but, these card are amazing. They are crazy like, I didnt even had to overclock them again. I will oc for fun, but I have no need. My principals games are sc2 and bf3 sooo bf3 is the most demanding between these two and everything is way smoother then I expected at maxed out. I recommend these card but, I also recommend to wait after a little drop of price.
Have a good day <3

Going by the i7-3770K/i5-3570 review, like I said in that thread the i7-3770K has no advantage over the i5-3570, to the extent that I was a little suprised. What little difference there was could be explained by the fractionally higher clock of the i7-3770K. Definitely not worth the 50 percent extra cost!

Wow, I'm convinced to go red, neck and neck, more fun to tame my inner overclocker to the extremes... and could care two flips about power draw since it'll still be probably lower than my 480 lol.
Seems like the best route is 7950 @ 1200 if you're lucky + waterblock. Cheaper than a 680 and I'm betting money that it's neck and neck as well.
