When normal vsync is off, no tearing should occur when FPS is below the refresh rate of the monitor. Am I right?
Adaptive vsync is not a kind of 'inversed tearing vsync' or something like that: it should not cause tearing at lower framerates.
It may be implemented badly and even cause stuttering or tearing, but adaptive vsync is definately not intended to show that kind of behaviour by definition.
You may prove me being wrong here, but please don't be such a patronizing kid while you're at it

no patronizing at all, was playing with you by making it sound serious (in a sarcastic joking way) lol
anyway sorry.
yee, you're wrong for reason, vsync will cause lag if the framerate is low enough which is why adaptive vsync disables vsync when framerate falls below your monitor refresh, that's in order to improve your performance/smoothness.
when framerate is high (60fps or close to your monitor refresh), vsync will be automatically enabled, that's because performance is high enough to sustain the vsync.
hope it's clear now.

0x080100C5 is working fine from what I can see, but it's only MSAA, so it leaves plenty to be desired.
why not just use 0x000000C1 and 4xMSAA + 4xSGSSAA - it's less hit then new 8xMSAA

These new drivers have the same stuttering issues like the 301.10 drivers! Just play Assassin's Creed: Revelations and you can tell.
So back to 300.83 for me.

Here are my two cents: What's with all the fuss surrounding FXAA/TXAA when we can have our awesome near universal applicable SGSSAA?

I love FXAA. Hardly any performance hit and it looks pretty (to my eye).
Don't go around blaming people's hardware when they experience issues with the new drivers and the older ones have always worked fine.
Can someone comment on whether or not these have fixed video playback / madVR ? The 301.10 only showed a black screen.

I'm playing that game on maxed settiings, 8xMSAA, 1920x1200, v-synced and triple buffered and I haven't noticed any stuttering with the 301.10 or these new drivers.

so it says in the nvcp that you can use fxaa with regular aa? any real benefit on this? I just did a heaven 3.0 run with and without and didnt notice any difference with 8xaa, just a small performance hit. fxaa by itself did not look so good but much less of a performance hit

He complained of the same condition with the 301.10 drivers as he's complaining about with these drivers. Given his PSU doesn't produce enough amperage, it's likely that it's his problem. With 430watts and 28amps on the 12v rail, he's 10amps short of the recommendation of 550watt and 38amp....

Around %50 mark get a BSOD. Reset computer and does "NO BOOT DRIVE" message. So go into bios and drive is missing. Reset computer boots into windows fine. Try to reinstall driver again, this time monitor just goes dark at around %75 and does nothing for around 5min mark. Reset computer, go back into windows and "old" drivers are back.
So i think we are back in the 90s and uninstall old drivers first, try to install these..i get message "No compatible driver found" message. No **** nvidia? Install old drivers back and everything is normal.
wtg nvidia. fail again.

well, for now everything seems fine with this drivers, great performance, no bugs and the PSOD seems fixed (tested about 10 youtube videos, at 360,480 and 720p), in the previous drivers those videos had problems resulting in PSOD, i will do further tests, but for now everything is working fine

Your GPU utilization can change with different drivers. Changing GPU utilization would not be a problem with the recommended ( Minimum of a 550 Watt power supply. Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 38 Amps.) If this driver improved GPU utilization above what could be provided by a 430 watt psu, be happy that TK is here to help.
Consider the following from the release notes:
Quote:
|
Performance Boost – Increases performance for GeForce 400 Series and 500 Series GPUs in several PC games vs. GeForce 296.10 WHQL-certified drivers. Results will vary depending on your GPU and system configuration:
