Oblivion was a real classic in all senses, i finished the original and the expansion packs.
on the other hand i played like 10 hours of Skyrim (since the day i got it), if i have to be completely honest i don't like the graphics nor the gameplay, i can't even get myself to play it anymore, i'll probably end up uninstalling it.
no surprise though, those who know me know very well that the way i see games (for better or worse) is widely different and at times even weird compared to most people.
that doesn't mean Skyrim is bad or anything, it's a classic but it's not the game for me, matter of personal preference really.
back to Batman AC, now that's an oustanding classic.

The above images aren't really using much though, just denser grass and possibly SSAO or tweaked shadow settings (Not that there's much shadows in Oblivion but it helps with vegetation and characters.) Ayleid ruin textures are modified but other than that I can't see anything particularly modified in the above images, possibly some water mod oh and there's a mod for the sun flare effect.
EDIT: Right I forgot it might also be using a weather mod as Oblivion by default is pretty bright and colorful.
(Some yellow tint of sorts, or was it overly blue? don't quite remember how the default was.)

Oblivions landscape looks awesome after Qarls texture pack, LOD texture pack, LOD objects (or else castles would pop in 100 meters away from you) and some ENB. Characters and face models seem awkward at all times though.

To get Oblivion looking like that I've used Quarl's textures - Max Tael's Natural Habitat & Environment - Beaming Sunglare, along with ini tweaks to make the grass denser and push the tree draw distance as far as possible, and finally ENBseries to darken and desaturate. For intimate areas like the above it looks great, and I'd also say more pleasing than Skyrim... but, when viewing across longer distances it simply can't compete and in general the trees are nowhere near as good.
Having not touched it for years I'm just having fun trying to make look as good as possible, and I'm surprised how good it can be... it can't touch Skyrim though IMHO.
So, there is a mod to help with LOD pop-in? I've looked around and haven't found one yet.

The character was created during World War 2 and was fighting against the nazis at that time, this should be enough for you to understand what they were thinking when they named him that.

It's not really a matter of graphics. To me, it's more a matter of presentation. Oblivion, to me, feels as if it dives heavier into the realm of fantasy compared to Skyrim. In a lot of the places in Skyrim, the artistic presentation of how the world was sculpted and put together seems bland to me.

Just curious - how are you guys getting free cam working in Mass Effect 3? They seem to have removed that functionality (not to mention the ability to holster your weapon!).
*edit* All good, I took a peak over at the BioWare forums and found a thread on editing the game to allow a free camera;

"Captain Captain".... Vector Victor... Roger Roger!
captain finland eh.. i think they should create a hero called Captain Antarctic, the only hero who can defeat Mr. Freeze the supervillain.
anyway, before the Captain America name was conceived, they wanted to call him "Super American"

Angry Birds Space
it's amazing how the developers really manage to improve on the formula
by introducing excellent new elements including proper use of physics to hit the pigs.
