OK, so here's the thing.

I have been playing around with Linux on and off for a few years now, and I still cant figure out how to work the "Terminal" for installing software. I'm following the instructions, but somethings ain't clicking with me. The joys of learning a new (infrastructure)

There are a few things I want to cover in this thread, so I'll start with the most relevant one first.

As it stands, I am currently using "Pinguy OS." The current ATI/AMD driver is highly unstable and is causing all sorts of on screen corruption. I am given the opportunity to upgrade to a newer "Beta driver" using "software update" and "Additional drivers", but neither one works. Help.
