I didnt really want to move to an SSD just yet, but I was kinda in a bind when my HDDs would not let me install any operating system on them for whatever reason. So I decided I might as well get one.
Well, in less than a week it failed me. Rebooted a couple hours ago, and it gave me the wonderful...
"Select proper boot device.." failure. I tried everything in the BIOS possible. And so I did a live Ubuntu session to check out the drive. All the files were still there, the SSD seemed to be working fine. But when I went to install Ubuntu, it told me there was no operating system installed. And I even checked all the boot files, all the boot files were still there as well from what I could tell. And the Windows disc didnt even give me a repair option, it said nothing was installed as well.
So somewhere along the line, some important boot file must have magically disappeared somewhere in oblivion. So here I am with a fresh install, luckily all that Im using the drive for is the OS so there was nothing important on it anyway.
But its a pain that I had to do this within the first week of having it....
On the up side, I did find that my BIOS defaulted the SATA to IDE, which I changed it to AHCI which I hear gives better performance. Honestly, who uses IDE drives anymore? I havent used one for like 5+ years.
