The 7970 Thread. Post your overclocks and experiences here:
There probably going to be lots of activity on the forum re these new cards so I think we need some early housekeeping. Firstly, to keep the forum clean and useful, secondly so everyone has an easy experience finding what they want and keep on enjoying the forum.
Well it's nearly release day and I know I'm going to be grabbing a 7970. Can’t wait!

So we will need a thread to post our overclocks and experiences with the new release.
Here is what we have discussed so far:

Guru3D Overclocking Guide:
Software voltage Mod & overclocking with MSI Afterburner:

I dunno how one guy in an Asian forum did it, but he has four of these badboys.....he has a few extreme setups, think 2x Mars and Ares, LGA2011 CPUs, the works. I will try and find out more and perhaps post a link here, his hardware has to be seen to be believed.

i think the custom 6970 came out about a month or 2 after the initial release. so i would assume it would be around the same time frame.

Yeah, XFX has double life time warranty and from what I've heard they're good with RMA's.
I haven't dealt with them personally as this 6950 that I currently own is the first time I've bought an XFX card.
Anyways, I've been under the assumption that the non-reference cards will be available on Jan 9th (launch day)..is this correct?

Is there any hope of it reaching the US$ 500 mark by mid-february ?
I don't like the idea of dropping US$ 500, even less US$ 610 in a video-card now, but US$ 500 i think it's still viable

I've purchased a dozen or so XFX cards over the last year and I'll happilly vouch for them. Their lifetime warranty is excellent, they do indeed honor it, they generally don't care if you Overclock, and they have a pretty decent RMA process too. I sent one back that actually turned out to not be faulty (adapter issue) and they sent me a brand new one as a replacement anyway. Plus they have Rebates and free games frequently,
